In an environment notorious for half of us writing stream of consciousness (and being lazy with our proofoing) it's good that this tendancy finds a counterbalance in you.

Indeed I inserted a "but" and lost a comma. I should have written ". . . it was disapointing that he didn't start playing against Lucas, it's good for his development" Indeed the two thoughts were linked in my mind, if not in my post.

Don't blame the reader if the writing is faulty.

I guess it's not surprising that C Bolton was placed on Lucas first.

Roos went with his tried key backmen as first option.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I don't know how many players from the Sydney Swans could say they kept up with Essendon in the first quarter - it was the quarter that ran right over us pretty much. However I am a biased LRT supporter! LRT has a lot of improvement and he has acknowledged that - at least he isn't talking Brownlows like Davis!

BTW slightly off the topic was it the Essendon vs Sydney match last year when LRT had two shots a goal only to deliver points?!?! The commentator remarked 'Roosey get him out of your forward 50' No-one really knew why he was there Poor Lewis
On telling LRT he was my favourite player

Not surprising to you perhaps, but I expected LRT to go to Lucas, and for B2 to try to play the Tiger role. Going with the "tried key backman" was probably the reason for Leo on Lloyd too.

I guess coaches like to stick with proven formulas.

I think LRT went onto Lucas in the second quarter which freed up C Bolt to provide more run, which seemed to work much better.

Lucas kicked 4 goals on LRT early last year. 4.0 if I remember correctly and most of them from outside 50. LRT was lambasted on here for that performance. What a difference a Norm Smith* makes eh ?

LRT was on the bench most of the first Q when all the damage was done.

I just took a look and the thread went for 20 pages and got extremely heated because not everyone lambasted LRT.

No, what a difference a year and some intensive training makes. He still makes errors but looks an awful lot better than he did last year. He was being beaten in contests last year, whereas this year he is being competitive.
