    Doyle

I admit I had high hopes for Doyle this year. I thought this would be his coming of age, a perfect companion to Jolly.

But in the cold hard light of a premiership season starting I now realise he is a long shot at best. A couple of pre-season games and half a game in canberra and he's already got hamstring tightness and not ready to be named in the seniors squad. I should have accepted that when the swans were so desperate to get a ruckman that they went after Everitt and even Chambers, then we really had nothing at home (except Jolly).

So long Donkey, I think this is your last year in red and white.

I agree. Fair dinkum, let's wait to the end of year before we write Doyley's epitaph, if it's necessary.

Depressing? Yes. Fairly close to the mark? I'm afraid I'd have to agree.

Dont take it too seriously. I'm in NZ and the only media coverage I get is 4 lines of scores in mondays papers + the internet.
I'd love to be wrong, but it looks bad for him.

Anyway, why no LRT threads this year?

It's quite simple. He's lost his spot as RWO whipping boy. It feels like Chambers has taken on that role, while LRT has earned his stripes.

              I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Didn't seem any point while you weren't around. I'm sure we could get fired up again tho given the right ammunition.

Nevertheless, nice to have you back...

I have never ever like or rated Doyle at all.

This is based on the fact that I can not recall him doing anything at all on the field.

He can't ruck, he can't mark and he can't kick goals so what is the point of him playing?

And then he is almost always injured.

Hamstring tightness is a good thing as it is not season ending and it shows that Doyle has at least been on the track the full pre season and has been playing a fair bit of week on week football, something his body is not used to.

As long as we are not desperate for a ruckman in the seniors, I think it is best we give him at least 5 weeks in the reserves to make sure his body and fitness is ready for senior football.

You must have missed the 3 goals he kicked in a quarter against Richmond at the Dome in the early 2000's. Almost all came from strong contested marks where he felt confident enough with his body to launch himself hard at the football.

Doyle is good enough to play senior football and be ranked in the top 6 ruckman going around, unfortunately for us and him his body has not allowed him to show the talent he has.
