    Nick Davis

In a very disappointing game, Nick Davis' commitment is worthy of comment. There were times when he seemed to be the only Swan who was trying. He was fitter and more committed than I've ever seen him before.

Sorry, I should include Jude as another tryer. And Jude seemed gutted at the aftermatch - his analogy is that a player is either a car or a caravan - and yesterday all the Swans were caravans, tagging along behind their opponents.

I'd nominate Brett and Leo as our two worst players. Any chance that Kirk won't be playing next week after his very late hit on a Port player in the second half of the match? (And not the one where Port players started colliding with each other to remember what opposition felt like.)

Despite Nick and Jude and, to a lesser extent, Monty and Craig, we have a lot of improving to do. We always start rusty but this year we seem both rusty and unfit.

I'm clinging to the belief that it's a Roos' masterplot so we peak in September (though that would just be handy for planning holidays right now) a month after the Cat's star has gone supernova then collapsed.

Geelong are handbaggers. Pure n simple. Leopards never change their spots and neither do those cats.

The big games they're found wanting, every time. How DID they blow that semi-final in Sydney after having the ground watered??? LMAO.

Jude was poor and he topped off his howler by chipping short to a marked player across the centre in the last Q for a shocking turnover.

This is just a bizarre comment.

Haven't ever heard of a fair bump?
That was an absolutely beauty, the ball was there and it knocked Port's best player (C.Cornes) into next week.
Someone should have done it three quarters earlier.

It was right in front of me and I thought it was a late, cheap hit by Kirk.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

He couldn't find the ball so he started knocking blokes over. It's what country league footballers do when they get too old and slow...

Agree with Bloods - this is a bizarre comment - going on present form you would have to be mad not to consider Geelong or W/Bulldogs to be around at the business end of the season.

Sure its only early days - but to say that at big games that Geelong are found wanting - well the Swans have been known to blow it too in the same situation.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Geelong yes, but the jury must still be out on the Dogs.

I agree the Dogs are still unproven, but in some ways I reckon they are more potent than the Weagles. While the Weagles have a higher profile midfield than the Dogs, the Dogs have plenty of scoring options through their midfield too. Both teams also don't have key forwards. The difference is that the Dogs realise this and have developed their game plan to not be reliant on key forwards (and have been pretty successful) whereas the Eagles are still trying to sort out whether they want to play the more traditional style through key forwards or just get the goals wherever they will come from.

To get back on topic, I hope the rest of the team lifts whilst Nick is still firing so he doesn't run the risk of getting too frustrated/dissillusioned. If half his leads were honoured (and I am talking strong, GIVE ME THE BALL I AM OPEN YOU FOOL leads) on the weekend then I think he could have kicked a bag, but it looks like the team just aren't clicking at all. It happened all match, but the best example was Pingaway O'Keefe ignoring 3 very strong leads from Nick, where he had broken from his man and had a couple of metres, whilst Pingaway was lining up for a shot from 50 metres at the end of the 1st quarter. Pingaway didn't give it up, pinged away and sprayed away.

Well said - it seems that Nick doesnt get a fair go at times and ROK is pretty bad at set shots (The new gold boots dont help either - they have to go!) and lets face it - if it wasnt for one N Davis and his amazing 4 goals in the semi final - things would not have turned out the way they eventually did in 2005.

O'Keefe is very good at presenting as a marking target, but his delivery I50 is poor IMO.

The "late" bump was on Wilson. Cornes was injured in the 3 way bump, which included Kirk, but it was his own team mate that did most of the damage.
