So the consensus seems to be that he's better (or being treated more kindly) than LRT this time last year.

Torture Chambers is being given a very soft ride (compared to LRT 2005) on RWO given his 3 kickless games this year.

Thought he was OK in ruck contests on Saturday night. He also tackled quite well.

But around the ground he is a massive liability - doesn't seem to have any clue how to position himself in a marking contest.

Maybe he takes the centre bounces, then camps a kick behind the play while Goodes does the ruckwork around the ground?

All the hallmarks of a certain delisting at the end of the year if he does not show huge improvement by season's end.

A few of the games Mott played were actually good...even great compared to our Paul.

Well, Wallsy speaks his mind, that's what I like. He does do so over and over and over again, but at least he's prepared to lead with his chin. As for Chambers, he has got more touches this season than Doyle. Give him a bit longer and see how he goes, then its time for Earl.

When is your first chance to oil up Earl in Canberra this year (for footy)?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I try to be positive but Chambers really is a footballing nuff nuff.

I'm staggered that we couldn't find a ready-made ruckman from one of the other leagues (WAFL/SANFL/VFL) a la Mott or Feast - at least those guys were servicable for the short-term.

The Saints drafted Rix as a supposedly ready made ruckman from the VFL, but I note that he's not cracked the senior team yet, despite their rather ordinary combo of Ackland and Blake (in the absence of Koschitske).

Maybe it's not as easy as it seems.

I suspect that part of the problem is that even ruckmen at AFL level need to be super fit nowadays. In the lower leagues the big lumbering types probably get away with just being big and lumbering. Take a 24 year old big man not used to AFL training and it will probably take a couple of years to get the necessary kms into their legs.

Dean Cox has taken many years to get to where he is now. I know he was rookied relatively young, but apparently he still caused some mirth when he first turned up to training because he was so far behind fitness wise.

This is at least his 7th year on the Weagles' list, and yet it was only really last year that he suddenly emerged as rather a good player. Indeed, back in 2003 the Eagles were going very well until Gardiner got injured and then struggled with Cox as their no 1 ruckman.

So far the selectors hands have been tied. Ericksen has joined the Donkey in his semi permanent hospital ward and Shaw has had a very late start due an off season groin op. I agree with one thing in this thread ? Chambers has gotten his hands on the ball in ruck contests. Pity neither he or anybody else seems to know where it will go. The HUN stats confused me, they gave Chambers 1 free for and 3 against.but no disposals. Did he get his free on the siren? Once the ball is in general play we are literally conceding the opposition an extra man. He may eventually develop, but at present a total liability. If he doesn?t improve I reckon Shaw will debut around round 6.

His free may have resulted in an advantage play hence he never touched it (which is a good thing). According to other stats he didn't receive a free.
