    No Its Not True.
He Said So The Other Night On A Live AFL Talk Show On Fox, I Think It Was White Line Fever. Spida was a guest on the show, and that question was brought up.
So Apparently Its All Lies. All though it would be interesting having him on our team.

How would that fit within the Swans' stated "no d*ickheads" recruiting policy?

Might be okay as we don't have a "no smartarse" policy.

If we got 2 years out of Spida then no it would not be a band aid solution, as you would expect that both or either Shaw and Erickson would be in a position to be playing for us in the ruck in 2009.

I think the "Free Barry" stance that Spida took at the Brownlow last year will ensure that he more than meets that requirement.
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

Not to mention the developing effect he could have on our younger players including Jolly and Doyle.

In the discussion late last year was it not widely suggested that he is a disruptive influence within clubs?
Next year would be too late anyway.

I've heard rumours that he does engender a poisonous atmosphere around his club. That would go against the Swans "band of brothers" atmosphere as much as taking in another talented smartarse in Aker would have.

Roos was just on the radio emphatically denying it but in any case he is too old for what it would cost to land him ; a pyrrhic victory if ever there would be one.

                            No.

During trade period last year the Spida for the Swans thread was one of the longest in RWO history. I desperately wanted him to come to Sydney and so long as he continues the type of form he displayed against Geelong, I will continue to shout from the tops of buildings (or from the front rows of the MA Noble) BRING SPIDA TO SYDNEY!!!

Aker was an intrinsic part of one of the most dominant sides in VFL/AFL history. I'm not sure that he would have caused more harm than good in Sydney - certainly a better midfielder than any of the current crop. Everitt would be ok, his "poisonous" nature would not get a start at a healthy, functional club. That said, he would be way too expensive at his age for one season - probably would have been this season too.

That's just bollocks from bitter & twisted Saints supporters who say the same thing about BBBH & anyone else who dares leaves Moorabin to be successful elsewhere.

I think he's seen as a real leader at Hawthorn, one of the few they've got.
