OK, that was embarrasing. I haven't seen the replay but at the game it was like "What the... he can't possibly have missed that...".

No excuses, but if you're ever gonna do a crap kick, do it when you are in control.

Yes, B2's were great - why hang him?

Easy, they practice it. At a Redback function a few years back, my sis and I were watching them practice their goal-kicking. If you think we hit the post a lot during games, you should have seen them at that training session - every second shot! It's been a running joke with us ever since.

Especially guys in teh midfield get really frustrated when they see their forwards squander so many opportunities like Mikey O (1.5?). Mikey should go back and train some kicking on goal thing.

There was a "state of the game" thing in the age a few weekends ago where they spoke to different AFL and non-AFL folk about where the game is going etc. and some soccer coach said that the kicking for goal was unnacceptably poor in AFL. Now obviously a round ball is easier to kick blah blah but......

Surely set-shot kicking for goal is the thing that can most be simulated in a non-match situation. Someone on the mark, someone jogging beside you yelling abuse, given that we can't have 35000 screaming fans.....
The fact that renowned goalkickers can miss from 20m out straight in front is unacceptable.

It's accuracy.. but the wrong target.
Should be worth 7 points - then we'd cream all comers.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Unless you're Micky O and can manage to hit both goal posts with the same kick (round 14 v Richmond last year). That should be worth 14 points.

Incredibly frustrating tonight watching shots on goal. Swans continued with excellent inside 50 stats.

                      Conversion remains poor.

                      Thoughts?
                      Kick straight.

How long has MOL been playing and he still gets the yips. It is a matter of holding ones breath and hoping. Cant teach old dogs new tricks. He is what he is.

He usually drops the ball to the right of his foot when he slices a shot on goal, which is his preferred method of missing.

The thing with MOL is the harder the chance is the more confidence I have in him kicking it.

Oh, just mu nickname for Magic. I wouldn't like to call him Mickey, would I. It would sound too cartoonish.

tony modra used to practice his goal kicking by aiming at a post and in the game aim at an imaginary one right in the middle of the big sticks. seems like a good idea to me
