Cap. there are many places closer to park than Lidcombe, within a reasonable walking distance, without having to pay through the nose for official parks either.

I voted for Telstra, it really hit me Sat. night, it kills the SCG for everything except watering holes post-match, and places to kick the footy in the Members Reserve at half time.

Only been to both twice but i rekon the SCG was better to get to and heaps quicker with the buses etc. Also noticed was in walking distance to central station. Telstra stad seemed to take forever to get to on the train and after the game a nightmare to catch a train!! It seems to be in the middle of nowhere, a bit like what Waverley Park was to Melbourne.

Agree that the parking at Lidcombe is good, it's just getting to/from the ground combined with driving for an hour.

Where is the free parking closer? I don't mind a bit of a walk, it beats lining up for the train.

I like the members reserve at the SCG in that it has a nice green grassy area, you can get more than just pies and hotdogs at half time and the seats actually face the middle. Not just a concrete jungle.

I don't know that there would be too many grounds in the world that can hold 80,00 that don't feel like a concrete jungle. (Yes MCG included) sure the SCG has better atmosphere in the members, but we have been a bit spoilt in that regard by playing on an historic ground probably in the top two or three in the world for atmosphere, but unfortunately it has effectively been built out now.

As for walking from the station, if I had kids in tow (day or night, but particularly night) the walk through Olympic Park is a lot less intimidating than the walk from central to Moore Park.

I love going to both grounds, they both have pros and cons.

Hmm really? I had a great time out at the day game at Telstra last year. Wasn't that the game that we won by 84 against Brisbane? The one where people got annoyed because of the wave. I remember the vibe being very good, even though the Lions were really off-form and the game got a bit boring in the last quarter.

I agree. I reckon that day went of totally, despite Brisbane being completely pathetic & gutless.

All the people in the Swans members reserve were in the shade all day. The ground I reckon is 1000% better than the tired old SCG these days.

Nah never found the walk thru Surry Hills intimidating - both are good in very different ways, I like the walk to the SCG but the walk from Concord West thry Bicentenial Prk is good as well, especially with a roadie in hand (it is approx a 1 roadie trip from the Concord West Hotel)

Surry Hills intimidating? Nah. I've got mates who live there and I've stumbled through it on my way home many a time. It's always seemed fine to me.

Then again, I find Wollongong more intimidating than most parts of Sydney so perhaps I have a skewed sense of perspective.

I live in Randwick, the SCG is far superior for that reason alone.

You could alwayd get the special bus from Warriewood or Dee Why. Or see if some other person from the Northern Beaches is driving and cadge a lift with them. I drove to TS last Saturday night and ensured I parked in P3 as it is the only one that you can straight on to Homebush Bay Drive from. The only downside is that it was $15 to park.
JS also lives up our way so perhaps we could do the car pooling thingy.

The car pooling sounds like an idea. With a few people, $15 is nothing! What's the traffic like to get out of the car park?

Not too bad. It took less than 5 mins to get out of the car park but I did park close to the exit and barged my way into the traffic.

I like them both and enjoy the variation

Although we have lost a couple of games at the SCG this year (like we did early last season) we do play well there. I love watching the ressies from the Messenger Stand in the sun, before heading over to the Churchill for the seniors

Still working out how to avoid that post-match crush for Telstra games. The Matilda Bay booze cruise is a good, but expensive way and we ordered a taxi last time.

I'm keen to give the Concord West option a crack for the next game
