You're joking aren't you? I just watched some of last week's Lions game against the Eagles. By half time, the scores were just about even - with Judd proving the difference. Obviously, the Lions dropped off in the second half but I don't think the Swans are playing as well as the Eagles so far this year so we could be playing catch up in the second half as the experienced Lions get tired.

We could very easily get beaten this weekend.

You're right, it is at the Gabba, after all. Don't discount the power of that fortress of a ground.

If we can lead at half time we should win comfortably. If we can dominate the first quarter the game is ours.

"Because they prefer Schmidt to be one of the emergencies." would have been a much nicer way of putting it. However, your point is obvious and one I cleverly didn't think of.

On second thought, perhaps I didn't deserve you to put it more nicely.

Schmidt will play either this week or next week. There is no point putting him in the squad if he isn't going to get a go this week or in the next few weeks.

I didn't see any of that game, except the highlights. But against Richmond they were shocking. There was another game I saw where they were pretty ordinary too.

Interesting to read today that Saints have used 37 players this year already (i'm presuming this article referred to the season proper - everyone has played other than their 3 draft picks from 2005). Swans OTOH have used this week's 22 plus Dempster & Moore IIRC. That's a staggering difference for 2 teams with a similar 2006 record to date.

I guess I'd much prefer the stability but it does show how difficult it is to break into the Swans team (unless you're a ruckman or a tall defender perhaps!). Once you're in, you really do want to make sure you stay around.

Moore hasn't played senior football this year, has he? Davis has, however.

From what i hear through the grapvine there are MASSIVE problems behind the scenes at the Lions. I have been told it is DEFINITE that one of Matthews or Akermanis will NOT be at the club next season. With other players taking the side of one of the two parties.

This is only heresay, but the Matthews vs Akka thing has gotten that bad that apparently Lethal was nearly prepared to drop him to the QAFL.

thats what i am hearing too re: internal @@@@ at the Lions.

apparently Aka and Lethal had a two hour long meeting when they got back from Perth last week.

there was a report in the Courier Mail about it.

                        Yep, that seems pretty obvious.

Aker in a different role (rebounding defender maybe) OK given where he is at this year, but Aker the tagger = something very very wrong.

Makes all that talk about leadership, blah, blah, at the Lions during their threepeat look pretty lame at the moment.

You *always* find out more about and individual, organisation when they are down compared to when they are up.

True and i think we will get done......i cant believe we are favourites in the papers when the game is in brissy!! Brisbane are still a very very dangerous team and we will have to play our best to knock them off, they will be desperate for a win and to get off the bottom

If Aker is out then that is one less dangerous midfielder to worry about

The Swans have to play long and direct football to win this game

The Gabba is pretty much like the SCG where the ground dimensions seem to be the same size

If the Swans can win all the stoppages and hard ball gets like they did against Geelong and play the way they played against Geelong then they should win

The Swans next few games are all winnable ones and if they can get on a roll then I don't see why we can't have another crack at another GF

P.S Does anyone know when Davo is coming back ?

                              SCG 159m by 155m

                              Gabba 171m by 156m.

The Gabba is virtually the same size as the MCG.

Disappointing for Willoughby. Schmidt can't be too far ahead of him?

Also, Spriggs was an emergency last week I think and has dropped off.

The emergencies are usually a good guide as to the pecking order for future INs..
