I think McVeigh is playing rather well atm, a little more keen to make the most of his time on ground.
Prior to last week I was more concerned with Fosdike, Richads and Chambers. But the former came good on the weekend, and the later two will be probably be needed for Richo, Stafford, Simmonds and whatever other talls Wallace includes to try to expose us height wise.

Roos must like Super Ted otherwise he wouldn't keep playing him

Don't forget that he is only 23 years old and has only played a handful of games

I think that you are being rather harsh on him

I don't understand why Dempster is not in the squad either

I just don't like McVeigh. He's had a fair few games too, drop him back, call up someone who has been playing good reserves footy and see what they are made of. Perhaps this week isn't the time to do it though Schmidt and Willoughby HAVE to be played sometime this year.

        Forgot Moore was injured.

I thought Malceski had a fair boot on him as well, not to mention Nick Davis (although Davo's seem to get more height).

I counted two rushed snaps from the Eski that carried almost 50 metres, one from about 60 which went nicely to the square and the other the snap at goal which flew through the posts. Amazing.

Gees I am glad you are not a selector.

Drop our only true tall defender the week we are going to play a Tigers team who like to play 3 + tall forwards.

Would not surprise me if Roos decides to play Vougels from the bench as insurance this week in case Richardson, Stafford or Simmonds get on top. Not to mention their two new hyphen tall forwards in Oakley-Nichols & Cleve-Hughes.

If Davis is to come back in we can use both Teddy and Nick in the forwards without losing much there and it keeps the back half looking stable with great rebounding ability.
ROK is more use to us that just a goal-kicker (and Im sure hes not happy with it either). His game against Geelong showcases the importance of him in the side (at least in the first half).

I reckon Ted is going ok, although he has been exposed in marking contests with taller forwards. I think he's worth persevering with, but still think he's better up forward and i guess that means for team balance he might get squeezed out. But he's got good skills and can be quite creative. When he put the ball out in front of Barry v. the Lions and it resulted in a goal - that was genuinely good play.

I don't understand why Vogels isn't playing in the back half as he is genuinely tall and is being groomed as a backman.

Re. Chambers, the guy has emerging cult status, but probably for the wrong reasons. I do, however, think he's improving.

Like most of you I have been impressed by the overall improvement of the team in the past 3 weeks compared to what I saw in the first 3 weeks.
I am encouraged by the depth that our side currently enjoys and in particular the difficulty that the selectors must confront each week.
"If we play as a unit then everyone looks good but if we play for ourselves everyone looks bad."
The past two weeks have been good for the club reinforcing this mantra.
The discussion on the team makeup is interesting because this week we have the possible return of two premiership players(my goodness it feels good writing that). On the strength of their past performances and their reputations they should be selected if fit.
This leads to who must make way.
Davis is a HFF who has a role in the midfield, as I see it that leaves either McViegh, Fosdike, Malceski, Schneider, Williams or Buchanan.
Matthews is a defensive midfielder/run-with player, and that is a similar mix plus Kirk, Ablett, Richards, Crouch or Dempster.
Since a similar mark must be given to other premiership players that leaves McViegh, Malceski or Richards.

                      So much for logic.

I haven't been overly impressed, it's been path for the course for the last 4 or so seasons.

Our depth is yet to be really tested. Take out a Goodes and Bolton for a few weeks for e.g. like the Crows and Eagles have had (and then some) and we'll see how our depth stacks up.

Mr Hughes' first name is Cleve. If he has a previously unmentioned hyphenated surname, he will be Cleve Cleve-Hughes. Like our CHB, Robert Roberts-Thomson.

I would suggest Terry Wallett will be looking to much up on us rather than us on them.
