I don't care where he plays as long as he is playing.......for us.

Being a virgin poster I hope I get this right ...

About Tige's best posiution i accept that he's great playing where he is in the defence but I'd still like to see him in the forwards for a few games.

He's got the pace to break tackles and he's good with the accuracy to find a man or slot a goal on the run so he really could add to our attacking dimensions. BH, Magic and ROK would probably benefit from his accurate passes ..... however it would leave a hole in the defence which might be needed to be filled by other players - whoever???

he's not getting stuck in the goal square.

the real gift he brings is his penetration through the middle. on a wing, he'd have pace and space to burn but would be starting from way out to the side which would restrict i) his ability to get inside and ii) his options once his run was finished.

leave him where he is. it is just working so well.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

With Richards and Dempster in the defensive side now, I dont think this will pose a problem any more. If Tadhg is playing on a taller player or is being dragged back to the goal square, Roos can switch someone else with him and let him run free again. So far its working and he is spending all of that valuable time on the half back line, where he does his best work.

I saw games last year where he was dragged back to the square. Haven't seen it so far this year, but I expect we will.

Plenty of wings wander back into the half back line (half the team does for that matter), as well as run forward. I think it gives the best of both worlds.

I used to be of the mind that he'd be better in the midfield or wing, but only because our midfield was so bad a few years ago.

Now, leave him where he is.

Coaches may try to drag him back to the goal square, but they have to sacrifice a good player to do so, and it never works for very long. Unless its a top notch player, Roos will move kenelly off. And he also provides great run from the goal square when there.

Keep him where he is...he provides the spark that we need when he goes on one of his runs

leave him - maybe the occasional burst in the midfield perhaps

                        Leave him here he is.

To be a genuine midfielder you need that real tough, hardness about you. He is not built to play that role and who is to say if he played midfield he would have the endurance to go all game long.
His value is long searching runs, whereas in the midfield he could be tagged and forced to kick round corners as often happens, so there goes his running value.

I dont think his body would stand up to the relentless bashing they get at centre bounces.

He reads the ball brilliantly coming into our backline and is very quick to back up his fellow backs. I ask the question about his defensive abilities. How often is he beaten?

Frankly, I reckon he is our "General" in the backline.

I also think he should be our next captain - one out.

There are light, running midfielders who are capable of turning games and don't need to be at the bottom of the pack.

I can't see how people think Kennelly's pace can't be used further up the ground.

Didn't infer his pace couldn't be used up the ground. I just dont think overall he is suited to the midfield for the reasons mentioned.

My pace comment referred back to earlier comments.

I don't think he needs to throw his body into contests any more than now if playing on the wing.

As for defensive skills, I've often seen him beaten.

His free kick ratio (FF:FA) is quite low.

Tadgh works best in open spaces, where he can utilise his strengths. He's a hallf-back flanker and a wingman, playing the role he's ideally suited to
