According to what I read, Sydney had "pressure" on the salary cap, so Florent was traded to get some space in the salary cap.

When a player is traded for cap space, these deals tend to be generous to the club receiving the player. Trading Florent for a future third-round pick isn't anywhere near as ridiculous as Gold Coast trading Jack Bowes and pick 7 to Geelong for a future third-round pick in 2022.

I wish the deal was more generous, or that the deal wasn't needed at all.

The basic change to the original Curnow offer is we have accepted a future 3rd pick instead of this years pick 22 we asked for. Will work out in the long run as we will only have space for 2 academy players in the primary draft this year unless we are prepared to delist more players from the primary list. Cannot see that happening
