Swans chat Team selection Swans v Lions.

A bit hard to see the side remain unchanged. Adams probably out with a hamstring injury. Which might see an extra tall come into the forward line. Either McLean or Ladhams to assist Grundy in the ruck. Maybe even Buller? Might go taller in defence as well, with possibly Francis or Hamling replacing Paton?

Surely they have seen the errors of there ways ? should be at least one tall down back and one tall up forward which greats better team balance and gives greater flexibility.

      OUT: Paton (omitted), Adams (injured)

      IN: Ladhams, Hamling

Be good to see Hanily get a full game - maybe in place of Co Warner.

Some things in a team you have to shake after 2 grand final losses and some you don’t despite the temptation. I think sending Tom forward is in the later category. I hope dean doesn’t try too hard to fix what is not broken. We were good front and back of the contest as long we had the contest right the entirety of last season. Come this year the only thing that needed fixing was the contest work. But yes we haven’t addressed that and we are trying to undo some of the other things which bugs me a lot.
        anyways !
we need Tom in back half.
we need to go with smaller forward line if that’s what it takes. Maybe Sam wicks can go in the midfield to provide the grunt of Taylor Adams. And send Hamling forward. And put a fire under Rowbottom, Heeney and Chad

Listening to Cox's presser I'd suggest Tom is going back

MentioNed Lions tall fwd line vs Hawks small fwd line.

That all makes sense until last week when Sicily went fwd, Tom should have gone back

So apparently Francis and Kirk got concussion in reserves last week, Andrew did a shoulder and Taylor Adams is out for a month.

We are running on fumes for a few weeks.

That wasn't my takeaway, as Cox also explained Tom's role as a leading forward opening things up for Amartey playing deep and seemed generally positive about his performance of that role. Also, there's not really an alternative to Tom on that role. I thought it was more likely that a tall defender would be brought in, perhaps Hamling, in light of the injuries to Francis and Andrew.

The alternative is a 2nd Ruck and Amartey not having to Ruck.

Last year Tom Mc was always on a key defender doen back, id let him play the 3rd tall to free him up if thats what Cox wants

7 possessions is not enough as the link man and using your best defender as a decoy for your fwd is madness

I would like to see a second ruck in. Probably McLean, maybe Ladhams or perhaps even Buller. Grundy can't do it all on his own. If that happens, I imagine McCartin will be moved back. I think this improves the balance of the team.
As for replacing Adams...I'd go for Riley Bice and move Florent up the ground.

                    Hamling in for Paton
                    Mitchell (Sub) in for Adams.
                    Hanily gets full game.

I'd also consider Ladhams for Grundy if he's not 100%. We can't afford him to have repeat performance.

Not sure how we can fit 2 rucks at this stage or even Mclean as backup, whilst McCartin is playing forward (we've abandonded the 3 talls forward setup).

Extra height in defence with Hamling is a priority imo (no other choices with our current injury list).

Hi fellow supporters. I am not sure if it is allowed but I have 2 tickets available at no charge in red zone area for this Saturdays match at the SCG . I would rather see the tickets being used than going to waste. If anyone is interested pm me and I will transfer the tickets.

I’d be happy with Hamling and Ladhams for team balance

Agree. Alternatively, Bice for Adams, Florent to wing and Corey Warner sub

                            Team is out

Would of put Ladhams in Paton, with Hamling going back
Also would have kept Sheldrick in for Warner

Warner did ok, but we need inside grunt not outside run

Eitherway I'm glad we are making changes

                              Our changes:

                              In: J.Hamling, R.Bice
                              Out: - T.Adams (hamstring), A.Sheldrick (omitted)

I'm pleased that Hamling gets a run. Slightly surprised that Sheldrick was dropped after one game. I wonder if Hamling can ruck?
