To be fair, I don't think we really stole it. Neither side were pretty happy not to win it given the kicking for goal, but on balance of play I'd argue we were slightly the better team. But lucky the game didn't go a few seconds longer ha! Both sides aren't exactly oozing polish however at this point of the season however.

I will take that. Especially delicious when they marked that last kick 2 seconds after the siren went. We battled hard today - lack cohesiveness, lacked polish, awful kicking for goal, but we found a way to win, which is all that mattered. Something to build on after the bye, in what will be a very tough test against North. I thought Rowy, Ladhams, Roberts were good. Chad had plenty of moments, but again a few wasteful ones. Papley more involved, Bice continuing to show a lot, Hamling not bad, and Tommy looking much more comfortable down back.
Plenty of goal kicking practice needed, but a win is a win and its a starting point.Comment

Bice is a cracker. Beyond the goal, showed three or four moments of real composure and sensible footy in that last quarter. There is so much Rampe about him - I hope he is learning as much as he can from the champ, as he is clearly in my book going to be Rampe Mach II at this rate."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

I still feel we stole that win. I have never seen Heeney fumbled the ball as much as he did today. I though Ladhams did OK once he went into the ruck. I cannot remember the last time Papley played a good game. Got a few touches but did nothing with them. Sheldrick should have got that easy goal. Maybe Cleary is the better option. Mills is back next game.Comment

Jeez we fought hard for that! Be handy if we could convert our chances.
Great game Warner. McLean good, Ladhams ok. Grundy ok while he was on. Jordon fantastic as usual. The week off will be handy after that game - pretty exhausting - plus the trip back.Comment

Yes, I was just looking at the stats and how Jordon compared to Serong; who he spent much of the game on. Jordon: 10 clearances and 17 contested possessions. Serong: 5 clearances and 9 contested possessions. Since Serong is usually their main driving force, it's probably safe to say that we wouldn't have won without the job that Jordon did.Comment

Jordan is probably now our most consistent player, week in week out. Rarely beaten in his one on one dual, and always valuable contributions around the grounds. Has proven an absolute steal, and we could use a few more gem finds like him in coming years at the trade table to complement the team. Got a feeling Bice however is this years 'steal' however - very happy with what we are seeing from him thus far."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."👍 1Comment

That’s a gutsy win.
What a last 10 minutes from Bice. The goal, and a few slicing runs. Good on him and good on our recruiters. What made it better was he’d been quiet till then. For a bloke in his second game to have the courage to go for it was just fantastic.
James Jordon - beast. That’s how Mills plays at his peak. A pure midfield game and gives us the flexibility we need, not just to tag. Rowie, Warner and Paps all fantastic after quarter time (to be honest, Paps and Rowie been ordinary this year before that). And that’s as hard as I’ve seen Campbell play. My man McLean nailed the third quarter. And wanna give a tick to Wicks whenever he was opposed to Bolton.
We’re still far from fluid and our ball movement is still a work in progress.
The other telling thing was how we fared in the third quarter when Grundy played forward or on the bench. Right now, something is wrong. I’d rather play Ladhams.Comment

Wicks did a fine job on Bolton too. Credit where credit is due - I thought Wicks down back was a desperate move to give him one final chance at AFL level. But he is proving me very wrong - bravo to him.

Wow. Great to have a win. Good game from both teams under harsh conditions. I thought there was a lot to like about us today, we didn't give up, and it was a good team performance. Very happy with that win. Thought Ladhams played well, like how Rowy keeps improving, the people who sit next to me at the SCG are very high on Jordan and now I see why, and overall I thought I could see a lot of potential in that team. Very promising for the rest of the year.Comment
