    Team changes Round 6 vs Port Adelaide

    Normally I don't start this thread, but a relevant article on Sydney's team selection needed to be posted somewhere.

    Injury-hit Swans consider underdone forward to replace spearhead.

    The article mentions that Amartey's hamstring strain will require at least a week out of the team, and McDonald may be brought in to replace him.

    Other players mentioned:
    * McInerney has served his suspensions and is available for selection.
    * Melican may be available.
    * Cunningham may be available.

    No question Logan would be underdone but who else can we bring in? Is Buller ready?
    Tom Mac needs to play HB with Melican at FB and McInerney to help out. Harry has been out too long so needs a couple of games in the ressies.
    So my ins are Melican, McInerney and Logan/Buller.

      I don't see Buller coming in. If Logan is not ready, then reckon it'll be Melican in and McCartin forward.

      Agree re Cunningham.

      Intrigued by who'll be replaced by McInerney. Corey Warner is starting to look good and I think should stay in. Hanily is needed while Papley is out. Bice is obviously already entrenched. It will likely be Sheldrick, but I thought he was pretty good in the contest on Friday.

        We need to win this on home deck. They will be upbeat but may have lost too much energy to get going. Hopefully.
        we are going OK, except our problems of too much eggs in the basket of transition and too little eggs in the basket of contest continues to haunt us time and time again. Angus sheldrick and Cleary, If stays in should be the one who needs to standup in the contest.
        Tom Hanily, Bice are probably staying this week

        hamling, sheldrick, Corey/cleary out for Melican, McDonald, Mcinerney and maybe Cunningham comes in too

          McInerney obviously, and hopefully Melican.

          Neither Logan or Harry had a preseason. I’d hold them out to build a better base for the season ahead.

          if it means we swing McCartin or even Hamling forward, so be it. Or just go with two talls forward of the ball.

            I don’t mind if we go with just two talls but in that case we certainly can’t bomb it forward as it will just come straight back with a vengeance! Wilbur, Hanily and co need to lead to advantage and hopefully we can find them! In an ideal world Logan would need to gain more match fitness in the ressies but even now he’s better value than Hamling was against the Pies- I thought he was poor. Mind you, he had some mates down back!

              100% Agree. I also think Hayward can step up and play more of a leading forward role, which may bring the best out of him. Kane Cornes thinks he's underrated.

              Will JJ go to Butters?

              For mine. Ins McInerney & Melican Outs: Armatey & Sheldrick/Hamling

                Still reckon that Mcdonald is worth the risk even if he plays limited time on the field.

                  I could tell from Cox's post game presser he's tempted to do so despite knowing Logan is underdone.

                    Not much talent in the 2s at the moment and definitely no one putting there hand up. IF logan is ready I guess but boy he looked short of a gallop in the 2s, Meland the only real definite changes will be JMAC and Melican coming back in.

                      Obviously the club has all the data it needs to make an informed decision, but I reckon we'd be negligent to rush Logan back.

                      Blokes with limited pre-seasons rarely ever catch up unless they get a serious block of work in. This season will be what it will be given our injuries, but we want Logan back when he can play some serious footy - not light on both miles and strength. He depends on the first, and is still building the second as a young footballer. It makes little sense to push him.

                        I do not agree with the prospect of rushing underdone players back into the team before they are ready. This has caused problems in the past.

                        I like MattW's idea of replacing Amartey with Melican and playing McCartin forward. McInerney comes in as well, but I don't know who would be omitted.

                          And Harry has suffered another calf injury. 6 weeks. Calf injuries are not good at his age.

                            Mills due back within a fortnight. Let's see.

                              TMac should not be anywhere near a forward line unless it is theirs. He has managed to trouble the scorers all of twice this year. No, No, No! he's a back.

                              Hamling at least can play forward. But prefer to have Logan back. We have missed him. Why do coaches have to screw with players. Cox wants to turn TMac into a Forward and Logan into a back. Effing stupid.

                              My ins;

                              Logan, Melly, Macca

                              Out; Amartey, Rampe (needs a rest, a long one), Gus (I don't want to see him until he learns how to kick)

                              I love Ramps it is one of the greatest stories in footy. Sir Dane has been one of our great players. But he is a shell of his old self. He can no longer kick to position like he used to. He is now just bombing ling down the line every time no matter what is presented. He is one of the players who panic kicks out of defence. The others are; Rowie, Roberts, Lloydy, Chad, Blakey. Why are do so many talented players have so much anxiety?

                              I would like to see Buller came in but not a chance really. Apparently he had a stinker last game.

                              I think the coaches really need to look at what they are doing. Especially the Opposition Analysis Coach. Last week it was dreadful. Not only that, we played a really old Game Plan and couldn't get through their defence. Why? Cox was playing a different and more attacking game plan against North and Freo. But last week it was the same old look for the corridor, if they stop us then go long. Now against Freo and North we were happy to use the whole ground. But last week insisted on only going corridor. The other thing we did last week was get beaten by what we know. They always go around the boundary and then come into the centre between wing and HF. We aloowed this to happen again and again. What's more our players were not picking theirs up at all. We left them to simply walk the ball from FB to CHF again and again. We allowed them an extra at the vfall of theball that encouraged this and out extra in defence was as useless as tits on a bull. We were alos murdered in the mids. If we do this against Port look forward to a scoreline as big as last year's loss at Adelaide Oval.

                              We need to play a different way. We looked good against Freo and North. We played a very different style and then last week resorted to the old style Horse @@@@.
