General footy chat Round 9: the other games.

Funny how a win can increase your interest in what's going on in the rest of the league. I mean, there's even a very, very slim chance that we could end up in the eight at the end of the round. But that would involve Adelaide beating Port, Carlton beating St Kilda by a point or two, us beating Essendon by around a hundred, and a couple of things that I'm not entirely comfortable with: Collingwood beating Fremantle and Geelong thrashing GWS.

Hmm, perhaps it's better if we just win a few games in a row?

A win over Essendon would see the Swans end the round higher on the ladder than Essendon regardless of other results.

The percentage boost would be required to get over Carlton.

Only at the end of the round. There's still more than half the season to go, with games to come against every other team not currently in the top 8. Percentage doesn't matter if we win more games than the opposition.

Fremantle have started like they've had a serious team meeting.

It's a really enjoyable game to watch. Freo are doing ok but very time they make a mistake, Collingwood make them pay big time!

Yes, it is a good game. But the Naicos obsession of the commentators is starting to do my head in. Nine possessions in the first half, but I guarantee he's been mentioned twice as much as any other player.

How many times did we see footage of him having his sore spot treated?

Then they spent most of the half time analysis, going on about how effective he's been up forward. He's got one goal, which was from a very soft free

GWS are sensational at the Cattery .

North v Brisbane is a surprisingly good game.

with all due respect you must be mistaken. Given he has thrown at least 27,345 times over his career to date and never been called I think you must have misinterpreted whatever you think you thought you saw.
My opinion is objective truth in its purest form

A round full of close results: one draw, and matches decided by 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 14, 15 and 35 points. North and Brisbane playing a draw is the most surprising result. North played very well to earn that draw.

Average margin of 10.33 makes it the closest round in the 18-team era, and the closest V/AFL round since R10 1970, in which there were only 6 games.
