General footy chat Round 10: the other games.

Should be an entertaining start to the round, with Gold Coast and Hawthorn in Darwin. I'll certainly be hoping that Gold Coast can keep up their excellent NT record.

The Saturday games, Collingwood v Adelaide and Port v Geelong, also have some sort of appeal.

Finally that should kill Hawthorn off for the night. I'm beginning to hate them again.

Good win by the Suns- they were the better team. Ginnivan plays for frees- still the same!

I never stopped hating that club.

For me, there may have been a brief moment or two, when they were consistently crap. But that was largely in the context of reluctantly hoping that they would beat someone who was more of a threat to our ladder position. Now, they seem to be a team of chuckers, divers and snipers.

It's amazing that the umpires still get sucked in. Watson isn't far behind.

Suns Hawks was an entertaining game I thought. Close for much of it, some great goal kicking and a fair bit of spite and spice at times. Everyone looked gassed at the end in the Darwin heat.

Not sure this is the right place to put this....it's not 'other games' but 'another club' and it is quite big news.....and very sad news.

It has come to light that Adam Selwood, twin brother of the late Troy Selwood has passed away. Devastating for the Selwood family.

I can't help thinking that as Troy's twin, he may have been saddled with the same mental health challenges as Troy and the loss of his twin was the straw that broke the camel's back? At 41, it's hard to think it was due to 'other' medical reasons although that can't be discounted.

Whatever the reason, shocking news for all footy fans. Vale Adam.

So dreadfully sad - I'm struggling to process it, and I'm not even remotely connected to anyone involved. I can't imagine how awful it is for those who are.

Everyone who I've spoken to about depression has either experienced it themselves or knows someone who has.

What can I say except know the signs, look after yourselves, look out for your mates.

Two of the 22 players that played against Sydney in the 2005 and 2006 Grand Finals are no longer here. That's confronting.

It is very confronting. I have often wondered about Daniel Chick, and how he was thrown entirely under the bus when he came out and said what he did about that team’s drug use. Poor bloke. Daniel Kerr has severe mental health problems, and Ben Cousins’ issues are well-documented. It’s team that has been inordinately afflicted.

I se the Bulldogs trashed Essendon,a team we were incapable of beating. The bulldogs have always had a strong VFL side and now they are getting the rewards. We have the worse VFL team in the comp. and one day it will come back to bite us,or maybe it already has.

                          Tragic news.
The Mens support group I belong to is called
                          MENS TABLE
                          Its worth Googling .
We meet monthly to talk (over a meal together )
                          - not about footy, but issues affecting us, no judgement , not even how can we help you fix it, just
                          concentrated listening and support.
it began as one table by a couple of blokes
Now there are well over 200 tables
around Australia w 14 full time staff and
                          Govt financial support.

or just ph a mate and say
”I need to talk about something, could we meet up?”

Not sure if you were implying that Chick is the other player that is no longer here (you probably weren't) but that other player is Adam Hunter. Chick is still going.....but yes, he was certainly thrown under the bus.

Reunions for the 2006 premiership team would be sobering gatherings indeed you would think, if they even have them at all. Tainted flag that one.....and now tinged with sadness.

North Melbourne have held on to defeat Richmond by four points at the MCG. It is their first win at the MCG for nine years after nine consecutive losses. Well done.

I sense that the Kangaroos have made some progress here. They're not getting belted each week, they are more competitive and they took points off Brisbane last week.
