You've got to hit a bloke 2 foot away with a handball, not handball to his feet as he did a few times tonight. Corey does a lot right - he can get the pill, but sometimes overthinks it instead of focusing on executing.

Given we will have a few enforced changes, I think they'll probably not want to rock the boat further than they have to. Can't see either Amartey or JMac escaping the hangman's noose, and Francis an obvious out. I just wish Buller was showing a bit more then has been in recent weeks in ressies - I really think he could bring something different to the other forwards at seniors level, but isn't knocking the door down.
Feel exactly the same with Corey, capable but rushed.

It’s an automatic three weeks then under the system as it is. To be honest, it was dumb to do it

Even the ground announcer introduced Tom McCartin with "back in his rightful position", or words to that effect. The "Chad 'box office' Warner" line makes me laugh too.

A scrappy old win in slippery conditions. I feared they might stay stuck a goal behind, but they found the right gear when it mattered, in the fourth, finished very well. Grundy enjoyed his long range goal, quite rare to see him have an animated celebration with the crowd. Huge night from Heeney, and Wicks great again in defence.

Unfortunate and careless from Amartey, it did not look good at the ground.

4-6 starting to look not so bad in context, a few key players back soon and I reckon we could be in for a much better second half of the season.

Bit of a shame the Channel 7 after match coverage concentrated on us probably losing two players to suspension AND 3 umpiring decisions that went against Carlton. (Have to admit the decisions were wrong.)

However, I couldn't give a damn! I'm on a high and will be till our next game. We beat the Blues - again! - and continued the great run we've had against them since those soulless vultures hovered over us and waited for us to die in the 90s!

          GO YOU MIGHTY BLOODS!

Adams and Mills in, Sheldrick definitely stays, Mclean in

              Amartey, Francis out, Jmac maybe

Loved Campbell using his pace and was very clean tonight
I went early to watch the VFL game basically to see how well Mills played and I was not disappointed. The one player I was disappointed with was McLean who looks to have totally lost his confidence. Either that or he is carrying an injury or the pace of the modern game has caught up with him. He only had 8 possessions and 2 hit outs for the game. He just could not get into the game.

The call against Cripps was rubbish but Curnow absolutely put that out intentionally. He was outnumbered and the ball was on the ground so he was looking for a throw in.

Jmac very very lucky his bump didn’t make a proper contact and no issue with him being rubbed out for that. His was very reckless I thought. Armartey more circumstantial given the blues player had been bumped already but likely also gone.

McInerny a week, maybe two (but should be just one), Amartey two to three, not 4-5 but then again, with the Swans having won and threatening to go on a roll, the MRO will probably do as you predicted. We know the league hates us.

Having watched the replay of the Amartey incident, I don't think that it's as clear cut as people are making out. Boyd handballs the ball away, then for some reason, decides to sidestep into McInerney. The collision with McInerney causes Boyd to stumble into the path of Amartey. Essentially, Amartey ran a straight line towards the ball, I assume hoping to put on some pressure, and was unable to disappear when Boyd ricocheted towards him.

I tend to agree with most of this deja but it does appear that Amartey leans into him and of course the sheer act of 'leaning' means shoulder first.
They will likely argue 'he chose to bump' when the ball was not in the vicinity, seeing Boyd had already handballed.
                        I fear for Joel.

Yes, I'm sure that it will be argued that he chose to bump, but I think that it could be more reasonably argued, that the slight drop of the shoulder, was more of a reflex action, bracing for contact with an opponent moving rapidly and unexpectedly into his path. And I suspect that the only thing that Amartey chose to do, was to run in the general direction of the ball.

Three weeks for Amartey. One for McInerney. Probably the best we could have hoped for.

I’d appeal McInerney. He didn’t bump, Silvani ran into his shoulder.

I imagine the footy media will be debating the out-on-the-full-that-wasn't until at least, oh the next round.

I called a throw in a juniors practice match the other week. The player protested that he handballed. And maybe he did. But it looked like a throw to me in the half-second, somewhat unsighted moment that I had to judge it, so I called it.

Things happen fast, umpires can have their view blocked. They have to call it. Sometimes it's an error, even when it looks obvious to everyone else - in the multiple slow-motion replays from different angles that the umpire doesn't see. I wouldn't mind a bit more nuanced discussion of that in footy media, and a bit less outrage.

And I recommend having a crack at umpiring juniors if you get the chance - it's bloody hard, even at that level!
