26-12 free kick count. Hmm.

From fleeting glances, I'm trying to work out what the tattoo on the upper left arm of Liberatore is? It could be a drunken self portrait? It could be his mum? It could be one of The Three Stooges? It could be a tribute to the botched art restoration, known as the Monkey Christ?😂 1Comment

Apologies also for a Non-football post, but I also am so suspicious of the Geelong sombrero cap.
Does anyone know what powers the AFL Integrity Unit have? Do draftees grant permission for access to bank accounts, tax returns, etc?Comment

In Cats players cases, Swiss bank accounts!Comment

I've just noticed that the 4.15pm Brisbane v Hawthorn game, is listed in the TV guide as being shown live in Queensland on 7mate. I'm wondering if that's a mistake, or if the powers that be, are now starting to rethink the irksome policy, of only having delayed free to air coverage on Saturdays?Comment

Carlton are such trash. That they couldn’t beat the Giants with such a depleted midfield shows what a C-grade team they are. The Melbourne pundits have long overrated their list.
As for Toby Greene, what a game in his 250th.👍 1Comment

The Lions v Hawks is now live on free to air in Queensland. I wonder if it's some sort of aberration, or is it the start of more live free to air games on Saturdays?Comment

I had a feeling - I could be very wrong on this. That it was something like the first dozen weeks or so were exclusive on pay TV, and then there were a handful of weeks across the rest of the year where there might be a match or two on FTA - I can't quite remember."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Oh dear. Dyl Stephens just had a moment to sum up his career.
Great run down tackle, over excited, panics, corners himself, literally kicks a ball sideways, 40m away from any Norf player, turnover, Pies mark inside 50.
He’s had an ok game defensively and possie wise, but just loses his head and misses kicks.
You hope he makes and he’s played some better footy this year but the nervous Nelly in him shines through.Comment

They do have thin tall stocks though. Plus some of their trades have been a bust - Daniel is terrible, Logue a crock, Corr a dud.
Having watched a few of their games, I think Parker is only going ok. I say that with no malice as I love the guy to death. But I suspect part of what they wanted him for was for the young guys to learn what it takes off the field as much as on.
The other question is whether Clarko still has it.Comment

I'm becoming increasingly irked by the conversations around the soft cap and the proposed solutions to address it.
I fully support more cap being available for all coaches in the league. I think it's accepted that assistant coaches have been dudded by the COVID-caused reductions being reversed for players (and, I suspect, for most senior coaches) but not for the rest of the football department. Ben Mathews, now a seasoned assistant coach, having to live away from his family in a squidgy, breeze-block apartment, because he can't afford to bring them all up to Sydney, is a blight on the competition.
But I take great issue with what seems to be the solution being spoken of the loudest of the senior coach's salary being excluded from the soft cap. This seems like an entirely anti-equalisation response to make the lives cushier (and more financially lucrative) for the most experienced, best paid senior coaches. If you're Chris Scott, Damian Hardwick or Alistair Clarkson, as examples, and your coaching record (and your sense of self-worth) means you demand (and receive) a high salary, you shouldn't need the same support as lesser senior coaches. If you're Dean Cox or Andrew McQualter, as examples, in your first year as a senior coach, still learning the ropes, it stands to reason that you either need more assistant coaches, or you need higher quality, more experienced assistant coaches to take the load off you somewhat. Excluding the senior coach's salary from the soft cap just creates a huge inequality in the clubs' soft caps, given the variation in senior coach salaries.
Why put this here? Probably not for a good reason. Except that I've been itching to unload on this topic for a while but am not sure if it warrants its own thread. So, because I perceive Chris Scott as one of the main agitators for this change, my dislike of the Cats increases even more. They've already tried to circumvent the soft cap and the impact of his salary by coming up with a "consultancy" scheme with a club partner that has all the hallmarks of Judd's Visy ambassadorial farce.
So the Cats (currently) sit right at the top of my "most disliked club" ladder.
Go Dogs!
But can I barrack for the Dogs ahead of them, or anyone? Not sure. I just loathe them both. I would far prefer to see the Hawks win than either the Dogs or the Cats, and I never thought I'd say that given how I felt about the Hawks for a long while. My opinion is objective truth in its purest formComment
