Surely the Hamling Experiment or disaster ends this week?

Must be good as a key forward going into battle alongside a bloke with no ambition of getting the ball

Absolute embarrassment. Time to turn off for the season. I hope we can pick up a couple of academy boys next year that might give us some hope. This year is getting worse and worse. Maybe they can hunt for a quality defender next year?

If Spargo passed his HIH probably just one.

All in all a schmozzle of a performance. Heeney had his normal moments of class. McCartin gets a tick. Sheldrick and Rowie battled hard, as did Cleary but with his inexperience showing through at times. Adams also battled ok when he came on. That’s about it though.

We seem to be far less than the sum of the parts at the moment, with no shape, no fluency, no confidence. Bad ball handling, bad decision making, ordinary tackling and not enough run.

Papley and Errol aren’t going to fix this when they get back.

So Liz is it personnel or coaching staff? What will fix it?

Personnel never helps but when a team can get 4 handballs in close at every pack then kick it uncontested fwd, id say setup is terrible.

P8ss Hamling off and get Buller in, we need guys crashing packs, not negative sh8t.

Go in every week with a key post with no intention of getting the ball in a fwd line that hasn't clicked all year

The problem with Buller is he does not stand out in the reserves. BUT, they have to give him a go - at least the next 2 games to see if he can step up. I reckon Rowbottom is playing injured.

We were second to the footy because we play bruise free footy.

Maybe the case but at least he is a fwd, give him a chance to crash packs

Hamling isn't fwd, is a scraggy defender at best, glorified Zac Dawson, better without possession.

Do you think May or Lever gave 2 sh8ts where Hamling was when we went we went fwd
They are literally defending 1 less with him up fwd

Rowy may be injured ill give him a pass if he is, but his days of effort are over, he needs impact.

You and I both agree on this we play 3 defensive/negating types each week,

That’s about it, and schmozzle is the word for it (though I thought Rowie had a poor game).

We will get McInerney and Melican back. I’d be inclined to give Bueller a game too, just to see and because let’s face it, nothing else is working forward of the ball. McLean’s confidence looks shot and the Hamling thing needs to end.

I don’t know whether Bice is tired (which can happen even to mature first year players) or caught up in our poor form, but it’s a race between him and Ollie for a rest right now.

But none of that accounts for the lack of grunt and run. A miserable showing.

                            Swap Bice and Cleary around

No point being a fwd if you can't finish, had multiple chances and blown it. Bice would look better in the open up the ground

Focus on winning the ball, don't need to tag if that's the aim

Most mids commit one way and when they dont get it, we can get them going fwd. Teams always go fwd against us as they know, Heeney and Warner aside, no one is trying to hurt them out of the contest

I agree with this, although Rowbottom did bring the effort.

It felt like losing Amartey and McInerney last week was a breaking point. Both were important in the win and are irreplaceable. Now Mills looks in trouble and I notice that Wicks is listed with a hamstring injury in the match report. Cox has had difficulty chiselling the team down to 23 good performers, with a much reduced ability to pick on form. We're a thin squad with our full complement let alone as decimated as we've been.

I thought Sheldrick was our most consistent mid today and Grundy tried hard.

Corey Warner played 100% TOG in the fourth quarter and did not record a stat of any kind.
