Predictable changes. All talk and little action by the coach. I can't see how Cory Warner is a better player than Ollie.

He’s not, Nico. But he’s only played a handful of games whereas Ollie is well over 100 and so a lot more is expected of him. It may not be fair- I would have dropped Lloyd and Wilbur too, but who do you bring in? Buller maybe. However we can’t make too many changes, though I can’t see how it would make the team much worse if we did!

I agree pick the best side, Ollies worst gets Corey a game every week.

We are down on troops, you don't push the ones out that have been capable.

Again, you don't make statements at 4-7, you make them at 10-1.

Beyond comprehension now, coaching get what they deserve if they play him fwd
You have a short memory. Our last home win was with Francis and Hamling up front. In that game, our midfield fired and as a result, our inside fifties were effective. Hamling did a job on Weitering IIRC. Even last week, he was disciplined in doing his job. Midfield needs to stand up more consistently. Not sure they are up to it.

At their respective bests, you're right.

But right now, the coach is largely getting diligence and endeavour from Corey, whereas Ollie has been out of form nearly all season and failed to take the hint after being made sub. There were two examples of him just letting Pickett run off him and score last week - not because he got caught in an awkward position, or Pickett's sublimes skills came to the fore; but he simply wasn't even paying any attention to his man. On one occasion, he was literally ball watching for about 5 seconds, despite not really being in the play, and Pickett opened up 20m of space on him. I would love Ollie to be back to his best, but right now, he's in miserable form.

I remember Heeney and Warner playing out of their skins and carrying the side like most of last year.
I remember Hamling/ Francis combining for a goal and 6 possessions from 53 inside 50s. If that gets them a game week in week out, Ollie must be shaking his head

Disagree assigning a defensive "job" to a full fwd.
Play Buller and have a crack instead of damage mitigation.

Understand it worked against GWS, they should give him the role on Tilthorpe if anything but get him out of the Fwd line.

Are Roberts and Bice not heading in the same direction ? Like Ollie/Lloyd neither have had to be proper defenders, the only thing that is defensive is that they start behind the ball.

Do we turn around in 4yrs and say Roberts and Bice are ball watching and letting guys run off them when their whole apprenticeship has been completed without being real defenders

I know we're generally not in the mood for good news right now, but Juzzy is celebrating his 100th game this week - and I'm here for it.

He can have his moments, for sure, but he's a terrific footballer, runs defensively and breaks lines like few others in our team, was heading for a top five B&F finish last year before his injury, still has untapped centre square potential and above all, he's cheeky as hell on and off the field. And that's before we get to the evolving story of his hair cuts. There's something about him I just love.

And I'll always remember the crowd noise of that intercept in the prelim against the Pies in 2022.

Anyway, have a good one this weekend.

(P.S: Please don't respond to this with snark about this moment or that. We need some joy on here right now)

Peter Blucher takes a look at Justin McInerney's 100 game milestone ahead of Saturday night's clash with Adelaide at the SCG.

The perfect midfielder, as you say, breaks lines and runs defensive. Put him on Dawson.

I was at a game last year when we beat Freo, his job on Jordan Clarke was awesome

We may as well bring Mcveigh into the midfield

The positional sh8t these blokes dish up from match committee is staggering.

Previously I'd say Injuries were 80% of the issue but I now think it's 50/50 with stupid calls.
Id never put myself up against an AFL coach but I reckon it would be a laugh listening to some of the explanations in these match committee meetings.
I agree with you. The selection calls have been terrible. They don't seem to look at the opposition at all. The other thing is, if you don't have your top talent available, do what Brad Scott has done, use strategies that suit the people available and on the park. We are playing a strange sort of game, an inbetween game. It's a nothing game plan, that is certainly not helping those who are playing. We bomb long because our only short options are toward the middle of the ground. Look at Lions, Dons, Pies, Dogs, Crows, they all play wide, opening the ground then centre it at around the centre to CHF mark. We don't, we want to centre it in the backs and get picked off or we bomb long because there are no options. If you are centring early, your opponents know this and will set the trap and either stop you and turn the ball over or make you kick long. This allows their defenders and rucks to pick you off.

Im hoping Cox is watching Dawson this week and a light bulb in his head goes off, sliding doors moment, when he looks at Blakey
Yep Ollie should be playing mids. Like Hewett, Horse saw him as a tagger, but the reality is, when he was used an a general mid he always got 30 disposals. Horse had blind spots and so does his replacement. In fact, I'd say Cox is even more stubborn. How long did it take him to realise McCartin is a back? He still hasn't realised Blakey is not a lockdown defender. I think Blakey is getting frustrated. He is not playing well due to the coach's idiocy.

Ollie is a midfielder and certainly not a defender as was so clear last week. I don’t know where Wolfie got his stats on Lloyd but I can’t remember him doing anything with more than a handful of possessions. I felt we only had 3 players who deserved their paycheck: Heeney, the Chad and Grundy who tried all day though beaten. Pistol Pete was reasonably ok- the rest were VFL standard and I’m being kind!

Coxy and his assistants/ selectors: mistakes have been made and let’s hope they learn from them. As for tactics and strategy: we need another Don Pyke type to help us out. Surely there must be someone out there as it’s obvious we’re 1 assistant short at present.
I got my disposal stats from the match report in AFL.com

I'm a big fan, too- his enthusiasm, and cheekiness, (excellent point!) adds to my enjoyment of the game. He has always seemed like one of those guys that just genuinely loves playing football.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I guarentee there is a club looking at Blakey saying we will give you 8yrs at 1.5 and you can play in the mids.
