General footy chat Round 19: the other games.

The round starts with the Essendon VFL side hosting GWS. Which shapes as being very one-sided. Though I suppose that there's a chance that the Giants come out so overconfident, that they sleepwalk their way to a shock loss. Which would be amusing, though I can't really see it happening.

Tomorrow's game should be more competitive, with Brisbane hosting the Bulldogs. While the final couple of games, might be a test of how much we believe that we're still a finals chance. Normally I'd be hoping that Fremantle would beat Collingwood, but it'd be much better for our slim finals chances, if Fremantle lose. Possibly the same with the final game of the round. Might be better if Adelaide beat Gold Coast. Though now that I think of it, Gold Coast have a game in hand against the hapless Essendon. So it's probably much of a muchness. Go the Suns!

We’re not making finals so now it’s about venality. And that means the Dogs losing. They re-signed that lunatic Beveridge for two years so it’d be great to see them miss finals again.

Giants in front 12 - 5 at QT but if they were playing anyone but Essendon, they'd be 3 goals down. Both of their goals have come from frees and they're playing awfully. Let's hope they play this badly next week!

I just can't watch Essendon any more this year. The idea they have a foothold on Thur/Fri night games is dumb scheduling by the AFL. I love nothing more than settling on the couch at the end of the week with some booze and watching a big game. But I just can't. They'll be losing viewers en masse.

I know, the prospect of watching Essendon, just had me continuing my love affair with South Korean tv shows.

Brisbane v Bulldogs should be a lot more enjoyable, though.

Interesting free kick count from last nights game, 25 to 11 in favour of the locals. Glad GWS won.

I'm quite enjoying how Brisbane are driving in with their tackling. Enjoying it more if they get rewarded with a HTB free.

                  Handy late goal for Brisbane.

Some people watch Essendon this year out of a combination of morbid curiosity and the rare experience of seeing a team use over 40 players in one season.
