    Roos successor? Vote here.

Enter the fantasy football realm for a moment. Roos - doesn't he have a contract until 08? - gets sick of the job, or the club get sick of him a la Eade, and all of a sudden we need a new coach in the next two years.

So who's it to be? An "insider" like Jonas or Longmire, or even Cresswell who is doing his apprenticeship v. quietly right now but who would probably be a great coach.

And then there's Maxfield, who seems to be having an influence right now in the box (much more than his recent on-field contributions perhaps)

This thought was prompted by observation re. current panel of AFL coaches, who would seem to be in a process of changing of the generational guard.

We wouldn't want any of the big names who are on their way out - Sheedy or Pagan of course - and who else among the other coaches would we want? Run through the list and think about if you would really want them coaching the Swans. We've had our flirtation with Wallace.

Worsfold is the best, and that's unlikely. Craig is also a man of the moment, but inextricably bound to the Crows. Matthews might get one more go, but its at the Hawks, nowhere else (but he will probably finish in Brisbane too)

So where are the next rank of top coaches to come from? And who will they be (Mark Harvey, O'Donnell - but are they any better than anyone else? Like our own guys, who are working with Roos)

Roos seemed like an upstart not so long ago, now he is the elite, and the next establishment if he lasts that long. Its a fastmoving world out there.

If Roos isn't going to make a dynasty, then who is it to be?

You know, his name didn't occur to me when I wrote the original post. I must be severely lacking in vision not to have recognized the terrible inevitability...

i know he's getting on a bit, but i reckon sheedy would love a shot up here and i think he'd be fantastic for the code. i still think there's life in the old dog yet.

other than than, i hope chris judd is our next coach....
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

The old bastard behind the goals who has been there since we moved from south melbourne. The one Lockett kicked the ball at.

It would be someone who has played with the Swans for years, maybe with some injury time so he's seen them from the sidelines, too. Like Roos, played largely defensively.

Almost certainly one of the leadership group - may even have had a stint as captain . . .

I would want Roos to stay on for a while.

But seeing as we are talking fantasy how about Luffy?
