KSAS, thanks for the reminder that the Suns aren't actually playing today and are "owed" a game. I just looked at the ladder, saw they'd played a game less than others and presumed they were playing today. Didn't even remember that they'd already played this round. I'm much closer to 70yo than 60 so I'm blaming old age!!
Round 21: the other games.

Freo are currently doing the most Freo thing possible and pissing away a shot at top four by losing to Carlton. There’s a half to go and the Blues have been dreadful coming home, but not good.Comment

I suspect Carlton will fold, but you never know. Personally, I thought that after a famous comeback win, St Kilda were very likely to lose to the generally dire North. Which almost happened.Comment

Run home top 9:
Adelaide (60): West Coast (A), Collingwood (H), North Melbourne (A). Should win 2, good chance to win all 3 and finish on top.
Collingwood (60): Hawthorn (A), Adelaide (A), Melbourne (H). Must win all 3 to finish on top. Harder run than Adelaide.
Brisbane (58): Sydney (H), Fremantle (A), Hawthorn (H). Tricky run of games to finish.
Geelong (56): Essendon (H), Sydney (A), Richmond (A). Easiest games remaining of the current top 9 teams.
Fremantle (56): Port Adelaide (A), Brisbane (H), Western Bulldogs (A). Need to win 2 games to be assured of finals.
Gold Coast (52*): Carlton (A), GWS Giants (H), Essendon (H), Port Adelaide (A). Should win 3, could win all 4.
Hawthorn (52): Collingwood (H), Melbourne (H), Brisbane (A). Difficult run, could miss finals if they lose more games than GWS or the Bulldogs.
GWS Giants (52): North Melbourne (H), Gold Coast (A), St Kilda (H). Likely to miss finals if they lose to Gold Coast.
Western Bulldogs (48): Melbourne (A), West Coast (H), Fremantle (H). Have won one fewer games than teams in the top 8, but they are in very strong form right now and have a big percentage lead over the four teams above them.
It's difficult predicting who will make the finals from here, but it will likely come down to the Brisbane-Hawthorn game and Bulldogs-Fremantle game in the final round to decide the top 4 and top 8."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

I noticed that Dylan Stephens had another inspiring zero tackles. Konstanty let the Saints have it big time with 6 kicks and 6 handpasses and one tackle.😀 1Comment

I'll be watching the Brisbane game form Ludwig's abode. We have both decided to watch the game through blindfolds.Comment

Simon Goodwin sacked.
Probably a fair enough decision, despite him being a rare premiership coach, given they're going to go through a rebuilding phase. They did actually invest reasonably in the last two drafts to start that process. But they probably missed a trick in not shipping one of their high priced players last year when there was an appetite for them, and they could have gotten more good draft collateral and salary cap relief.Last edited by imuninformedtwo; 5 August 2025, 09:37 AM.Comment

Dylan Stephens has been such a bust. Konstanty I sort of see some hope of potentially eeking out a decent AFL career, but Stephens looks as raw now as he did back on day 1 of his first preseason."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment
