Maybe I'm a bit grumpy, due to a chest cold, but having watched the VFL match on my phone, then listened to this match on my phone, I feel like I've used a chunk of data for no good reason.

        Backed Cox forever

Ladhams has to play to help the fwds

Love the forensic analysis from you too everytime I post, without ever watching the game

Well your wording in the post I replied to was a touch misleading. Sounded you were saying you backed Ladhams forever, which was a fair assumption seeing you had been calling for his selection for weeks now.

BTW, I don't do forensic analysis, I'll leave that up to keyboard coaches like you UUaswan.

Or the warriors that actually watch the game

To highlight my point, Buller has 11 touches in 3 qtrs playing alongside another tall and 1 touch in the last when Ladhams was subbed off despite Rucking as well

I remember reading in his draft profiles that Datolli had midfield potential as well and you can see why. His very first touch - handball forward into space for a teammate to run into. He did it again when he saw McInerney streaming forward (the one where he got the goal after a free). They were great release handballs. Who knows where his eventual position is but that is pure football IQ.

It was otherwise a bucket of slop. But Grundy wow, Blakey excellent, Gulden yep, Heeney so clean, probably McInerney’s best game for a while. Same for Campbell.

Not sure Ollie did himself any favours.

And watching that, I’m still not sure why people want to retire Rampe.

Is it my fault I don't have money to waste on Fox Sports or Kayo or whatever streaming service it's on?

So your original post should have read Ladhams subbed out, not 'sub out Ladhams', thereby sounding like you wanted him to be subbed out.....followed by 'backed him forever'.

Now can you see why I was confused by that word salad?

Even though he did have many touches, you could see Dattoli belongs out there, Hardly an inspiring win considering how many Essendon player where missing form their team but the wet conditions did not help. We really need a forward who is capable of taking a pack mark so I imagine that will be their focus next year. I know we have Amartey and Mcdonald but you can always rely on one of them being injured. Grundy was great again. Has to be in the all Australian team.

I thought Ollie was ok, better than who he replaced anyway
JMac was quick to release the ball and used runners where he could, great link up game

Im always surprised how little BC touches it for impact, he is bang for buck

Rowy did well early, Sheldrick looked cleaner

Fwd line is shambles, alot unavailable but we rely on the miraculous for a score, good teams swallow us up there.

Defence was solid, albeit against nothing

That was Rodney Eade era garbage. We had 113 more disposals and won by only 14 points against an Essendon reserves team. People say Jmac jhad a top game. Sure he kicked 2 goals but continues to slaughter the footy. The majority of our points were from set shots, unforgivable. We should have won by 10 goals.

Our skills are an absolute disgrace. Warner has dropped off big time this year mainly due to his brain fades. eg. He gets a free for a head high tackle at a centre bounce, then hand balls to a player about a foot from him with a player 1 cm on his hammer. Mindless dribble. That kick should have been on the top of the square. And what's with these dinky inside out kicks to nothing. He's clear in the mid field and kicks this weird up in the air kick of about 20 metres for a turnover. What's happened to our star who burst clear and kicked goals on the run.

On the umpires: I don't buy this business about missing frees. We way to often offend in marking contests. Constantly holding opponents, and we do it every week. I think a big part of our problem is really poor skills. The same players doing the same errors week in week out. Frankly I see this as coming down to coaching. So many times we had players free on the overlap, then when it comes to the last possession inside 50 we slaughter the footy. Why don't we coach to correct these issues. Coaching has a lot to do with it.

Positives: Jack Buller. Continues to present but now he has adopted this 50 metre stuttering run up and misses from 30 metres out. Then when he takes the normal straight line up he slots one from 50 metres on the boundary. Takes a very good overhead mark.
Jessie Nattoli: Looks the goods. Has great awareness of players around him. Looks a lot like Heeney in his first season.
Angus Sheldrick: I thought he had a great game. He is one player who has improved his skills and today was clearly our best midfielder. Is a genuine tough player and gets to and presents in space.
Grundy for all Australian! I think he must be racking up big Brownlow votes.
Slow poke Roberts: Finally dropped after giving us nothing. If Port want him they can have him.

Negatives: Ollie Florent. He set the tone for his game in the first quarter when he did his obligatory kick into the coming towards him.
Ladhams. I just can't have him. Useless as a tall forward. If another club chases him then he can go for free.
Overall individual skills: the whole side needs needs heaps of work in the off season. Gee, even Errol's skills have been way off.

One positive from today's game can be found in the match report on the AFL website:

                            INJURIES
                            Sydney:
                            Nil
                            Essendon: Nil

Given the horrible run of injuries both teams have had this year, it's good to get through a game without another. There could be an undisclosed injury somewhere that makes this into a lie (like Hayward's mystery injury from last week) but I've seen nothing so far to suggest this is the case.
