I was genuinely surprised at that stat. I appreciate as a minor premier you're obviously having a pretty decent year, but I didn't expect it to be that many years since one had managed to have a couple of bad games back to back (even factoring they should generally have been home games).I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Farewell Dawson ?
it is an odd stat, I would have guessed that port were minor premiers one of the years they went out in straight sets.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Unfortunately our form has been a bit poor in this regard. I can’t get over how we lost a player like Darcy Cameron, for example! Crm memory, he played 1 game- admittedly he didn’t get a kick, but come on- you don’t discard a tall without a run of games. This year Buller should have been introduced a lot earlier, even though his form in the ressies didn’t necessarily warrant it. You need to give young players a go when there’s an opening and then give them a run of games.

Take a look at Cats last selected side.
Outside if Holmes, Smith and Neale who are you chasing for a future build ?
Have a look at that team, there are no stars, we would still play Cam Guthrie, Duncan, Bews, they move them on.
Leaving Jez, Stewart out of it due to their age
Brissy are stacked but they still managed to play 8 under 22, including 2 talls who normally " take a bit of time to come on"Comment

Lions vs Suns a disappointing contest in the end, but perhaps not surprising. Third-placed seasoned finals campaigners vs seventh-placed first time finalists.
So on to the prelims. This week in "how to make it all about the Pies", The Age has really surpassed itself with a headline about a game in which they aren't even playing.
The mother of all preliminary finals takes centre stage, with Pies the support act

Port Adelaide have been minor premiers four times. They did not go out in "straight sets".
2002: Port Adelaide lost to Collingwood, defeated Essendon then lost to Brisbane.
2003: Port Adelaide lost to Sydney (great game!), defeated Essendon then lost to Collingwood.
2004: Port Adelaide defeated Geelong, St Kilda and Brisbane Lions (premiership).
2020: Port Adelaide defeated Geelong, then lost to Richmond.

2003 QF win v Port Adelaide started the belief that we could be Premiers, culminating in 2005. Historic win for the club..Port Adelaide have been minor premiers four times. They did not go out in "straight sets".

It was a win for the ages.....I was beside myself after that game and had exactly that thought....'we could win a flag quite soon!'. It set in motion an inevitability that history proved correct.Comment
