It is actually quite a relief that no Academy kids are in the top 30, as we will almost certainly be unable to match any bids given our hand and the new rules. Hopefully aa few good ones slip down to pick 37 and later, where we can just swoop in with our next available pick.

Poor Taylor Adams.....after finally returning to play after so long, via the VFL today, he went off with another hamstring injury in the first quarter no less.
Really feel for him after all the work he has put in to get back.....he may well hang up the boots after this setback.
PS: Just saw that there is a VFL thread.....this would already have ben covered.Comment

While I feel sorry for him at a personal level, I still can't understand the club's rationale around trading Parker out and him in. Similar in the midfield, Parker probably more of a threat forward/in the air. Was Parker asking for an absurdly bigger/longer deal? Otherwise, WTF?My opinion is objective truth in its purest formComment

Parker and Adams were on the list together in 2024. I don't think Adams was recruited to replace Parker, but to bolster our midfield depth. We signed him onto a 3 year contract to lure him across.
No surprise.

As it turned out, Parker had a horrible 24 season with his late preseason injury and then followed by (IIRC) a 6 week suspension in the VFL upon his return.
This delayed Parker's senior return, as he was also battling breaking into a team that was fllying. I think he eventuslly replaced Adams in the team who started the season well and began to lose confidence as the finals neared. with the GF demons of 23 at Collingwood getting the better of him. Parker played in the 24 GF (sadly his last as a Swan) and Adams missed out....again.
I don't recall Parker and Adams playing together?
Parker had another year on his contract, which the club wasn't willing to extend at the point seeing him as a yearly proposition. Parker understandably wanted a longer term security which a struggling North provided.
In a recent podcast. Parker admitted feeling the pressure of an emerging Sheldrick & co and understood the club's position with him.
With the benefit of hindsight, Parker most likely would've had his contract extended for another yeat based on our horrendus injury list in 25 and his 8form since at North. Adams has struggled to get onto the park the past 2 seasons.
Sad, dearly would've loved to see Parker as a one club player and joining our 300 game club.
