Possibly a bit lucky to get a goal after the siren, in a competitive but scrappy first quarter. Having a bit of trouble moving the ball fluently, with so many changes to the side. Certainly lacking a bit of connection between the midfield and the forwards.

Still competitive but scrappy. Perhaps the umpires are contributing to that, by not paying a lot of HTB decisions that they could have paid.Comment

Losing 4 AFL listed players makes a noticeable difference. We are still trying the forward handball game, but our skills and Richmond pressure means there isn't much fluency. I've been impressed how hardworking the Richmond defence has been.Comment

I suppose we did okay to fight back, after Richmond looked like running away early in that quarter. The competitiveness of Mellis and Cootee around the contests, was perhaps the main reason for that.👍 1Comment

He was ok today, but I think he has been underwhelming for most of the year. He has been attending center bounces then pushing forward, however has not posed a major threat in front of goal nor been racking up touches in the middle. I think it is confidence, but he really needs to get going before the year is wasted.Comment

Overall quite disappointing as we were a step behind them for the whole match and seemed unable to pressure them for any length of time. It was difficult to pick the best Swans as nobody performed for 4 quarters with enough intensity, but here goes...
3 votes - Mellis. I'm sure his disposal efficiency was well down, but kicked a pair of beautiful snapped goals and displayed his speed and ball winning nous.
2 - Cootee. Started very slowly with several turnovers, but lifted and won plenty of contests and spread hard.
1 - Snell. A few errors today, but generally intercepted well and was composed with ball in hand.
Warner was probably worth votes with a typically hard-working performance, but those misses in front of goal were soooo frustrating.
Anyway with Chamberlain and perhaps Hamling out next week, our chances for the next stretch of games are looking a bit bleak.👍 1Comment

Agree with the votes. Hopefully Hamling is an ankle sprain that heals pretty quickly. Chamberlain looked more like season over, though. Maybe we'll get the mysterious Bowman back next week?Overall quite disappointing as we were a step behind them for the whole match and seemed unable to pressure them for any length of time. For mine, i think Dattoli is the type of player who would excel in the seniors due to his class and being surrounded by better players. He showed enough late last year he is of AFL quality with a future.

Loved that Holy Dattoli speccy!Comment

In my opinion he simply doesn’t work hard enough. I have noticed a couple of times he doesn’t chase once the ball is turned over.
There is no doubt that he has talent but he needs to do more and show consistency

Thanks everyone for the Dattoli update. Very disappointing- I thought he could be a Hayward type or an early career Heeney type (ie Heeney as a forward) so I was pretty excited when we got him.
hopefully he can turn it around but he really should be starting to hit his straps in his third year on the list.Comment
