General footy chat Round 4: the other games.

With the Easter long weekend, there’s now at least one AFL game for five successive days. I'm pretty sure that's what Jesus would have wanted.

Interesting start to the round tonight, with Brisbane hosting Collingwood. Both sides have a few significant injuries. Either side could be in a small amount of trouble if they lose.

There might be a fair amount of interest in the Friday game between North and Carlton. Mainly because of the mounting pressure on Voss, after the recent capitulation to Melbourne. Personally, my most likely scenario for game, is that Carlton will struggle to get to around a two goal lead at half time, which will lead to North being so overconfident, that somehow they won't manage to run down a tiring and inept Carlton.

Then comes perhaps the game of the round, between Adelaide and Fremantle. Adelaide are slight favourites, despite Fremantle being in perhaps slightly better form. I think both sides are genuine finals contenders.

Perhaps the most interest on Sunday, is how many points the Bulldogs can rack up against Essendon. It could get very ugly.

Then the round finishes with the now traditional clash between Hawthorn and Geelong. Should be a hard fought clash, but I'm not sure if I want either side to win. Perhaps each side could kick something like 1.9 for an ugly draw, played in gale force winds and torrential rain. Maybe the old testament God could get in the on the act, by sending a plague of frogs or something?

Looks like Nick Daicos is a late out for Collingwood. I suspect that many people who backed the Pies, might now be a touch unhappy.

The Pies have no forward line, no captain, no Benjamin Button and no Daicos. It should be a smashing.

Chris Fagan on Daicos being a late withdrawal, "I think it makes them harder to beat, because they'll be trying that much harder"

Yeah right, Chris. You can try running that line, but nobody is going to believe you.

I wonder if any of the powers that be at Carlton or Essendon, were watching the NRL match between the Sea Eagles and the Dolphins? The Sea Eagles, after sacking their coach, came out and won 52-18.

Deja, I look forward to further biblical interpretations of AFL issues from you!

In true Easter spirit, I will pretend - just for today - that I don't thoroughly detest both North and Carlton and hope that they enjoy their game today. (Lots of ex-Swans to watch.)

And perhaps Essendon will resurrect their season on Sunday?

I suspect that pretty well everyone thinks that an Essendon win is too much of a miracle.

Carlton three points up at the main break. Probably not too many of their fans feeling confident.

They'd have to be another 10 goals in front before they felt they had a sniff.

I don't think we lost too much letting Carlton have Ollie!

If North win, they will be Ladder Leaders.

Surely a Miracle - or AFL HQ bungling.

Carlton 22 pts up at 3/4 time. Can they hang on?

And yet I have every confidence that they won't be playing finals. Unless sneaking into Wildcard Round in 9th or 10th place, is now considered to be playing finals?

Carlton up by 1 with 4 minutes to go.

Carlton down by 5 with 3 minutes to go.

Carlton down by 4 with 2 minutes to go.

                          Goodbye Voss.

                            No. No, they can't.
