Elijah Hollands: 60% game time, 1 disposal, 0 tackles, 3 pressure acts, 1 metre gained. I can't recall a stat sheet that bad since Paul Chambers.

Ain't pretty to say the least.
God Carlton just don't know how to win. Reckon they are both bottom 8 sides this year - just don't think Pies can kick a score against the good teams with their forward line."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

I was going to post that I don't think either team will play finals, but then I remembered that we now have wildcard finals. So both these teams are probably the sort of mediocre side, who could scrape into the finals in 9th or 10th. Although, for Carlton to rise that far, they might have to sack Voss.Comment

12-0 by the AFL tipsters doesn't mean anything. It could be top versus bottom, or a relatively close call that they've all selected the same team.
This week's matches include Gold Coast versus Essendon, North Melbourne versus Richmond and Adelaide versus St Kilda. AFL tipsters have gone 12-0 on each.
Let's look at these games in more detail.
Gold Coast should defeat Essendon, but Essendon have been playing better lately and have just defeated Melbourne. Melbourne defeated Gold Coast two weeks ago. If Essendon defeated Melbourne and Melbourne defeated Gold Coast, it's possible that Essendon could defeat Gold Coast. I think it's unlikely, but it could happen.
North Melbourne and Richmond could go either way. North Melbourne have had some decent form, but their wins have been against Port Adelaide, Essendon and Carlton and they also lost to West Coast. Richmond have not been competitive, with one close loss against Carlton in their five losses. Games between bottom teams can be a bit unpredictable. North Melbourne have clearly improved, but this is a game they could lose.
Adelaide versus St Kilda is a game that does not justify a 12-0 split. The tipsters have apparently selected Adelaide because it's an Adelaide home game and Adelaide finished on top last year. There is no real reason why St Kilda can't win. The two teams are both 2-3. Out of all the 12-0 games, this is the game that IMO is most likely to produce a result against the tipsters. It would not be an upset because the teams are close together on the ladder.
If I was looking for an "upset" by going against the crowd, any of these three games could produce a surprising result."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

I am getting sick of the love in for Nic D. He is geting a big head not helped by his father walking out of the B&F cause nic did not win and coach McRea asking for changes to the voting for it, and always singing his praisee does not give others much mention. If Issac H, E Gulden and perhaps Chad W are not at least the = to him , if they played for a Vikc team they would be lauded more than him. Nic D is starting to look like he has a broom 9You no where) as he struts around like a peacock. The Browdcasters also laud his performanes. Don't get me wrong he is a good player but is he btter than the 3 swans players or indeed Marcus B of the bulldogs or Petraca at his best.Comment

In my preseason predictions on here, I had four brackets for teams.
I said Carlton were in my bracket alongside the Pies, GWS, St Kilda, Melbourne and maybe Norf as having the potential to claim the new 9-10 wildcard slots, but said that I'd likely regret the Carlton nomination.
My regret has come early.Comment

The Channel 7 commentators were talking up Will Hayward big time until 3 quarter time. (He had been important for Carlton.) But talk about Hayward ceased in the last quarter when Nick Daicos picked Collingwood up and threw them over the line. Daicos was brilliant in the last quarter but I felt he hadn't done that much beforehand.I am getting sick of the love in for Nic D. St Kilda's chances have definitely improved with Captain Jordan Dawson being an Out due to a family tragedy. It may also have impact on the team either way.Adelaide versus St Kilda is a game that does not justify a 12-0 split. I've found this game the most difficult to tip.Comment

I thought that the best ex-Swan on the field was probably Anderson. He really went hard, when it was his turn to go. A couple of his hard ball gets in the last quarter were excellent, and it seems that when he lays a tackle, his opponent feels the tackle.

You could add Dane Rampe to that list because he was originally a zone selection from Sydney when the AFL had a crazy system when there was no reserve competition. He played with the Bulldogs nominated VFA club Williamstown and came back home a year or so later.
The Swans had a similar arrangement with Port Melbourne.
Another player who should have been with the Swans was Jarred Witts who was drafted by Collingwood and then cut. Gold Coast then picked him up.
This was all prior to the academy.
