There's now a minor controversy, after somebody photographed the whiteboard that contained the Brisbane assessment of the Essendon players strengths and weaknesses, and then released it via social media.

I find some of them quite amusing: a blank space for McKay's strengths and it looks like they decided that Prior's strength was his girlfriend.

This is an interesting round so far with several close games. Draw, 12 points, 1 point, Richmond up by 4 at 3/4 time and North Melbourne leading Geelong by 1 in the third quarter.

Then there's Essendon being Essendon, losing by 64 points.

Every club does this, but the McKay one had me in hysterics.

A real sliding doors moment for our club that one. Because he was dumb and greedy, and we weren’t prepared to go anywhere near Essendon’s offer, we dodged a bullet. Plus, my understanding is once he actually visited the club and left people deeply unimpressed, we all but withdrew our interest. Complete opposite to what happened with Grundy - once everyone met him, we went pulled out all stops.

I haven't heard that much of Grundy speak, but he's supposed to be highly intelligent, with some esoteric intellectual pursuits. Which isn't exactly your stereotypical ruckman. Perhaps a bit like Reilly O'Brien, who has a masters in neuroscience, or something similar.

I tuned into the ABC Radio coverage of the last couple of minutes of the West Coast v Richmond game and was quite pleased to discover, that West Coast were having a reunion for their 2006 premiership side. After that loss, a waste water analysis of what's coming out of that function room might be interesting.

I really hope Cox didn't attend.

That’s true. But it was more a case of Grundy being able to articulate what he wanted to achieve in his career, why he felt Sydney might be a good fit, what he understood about our game plan and how comfortable he and his partner would be in Sydney (she’s a smart cookie herself). Whereas McKay barely asked a question, openly spoke about the potential money involved, and at one point womdered what the Swans would do about the risk he got home sick. Dumb as a brick.

Gold Coast 5 wins, 791 for, 690 against

Very unlikely to happen, but not impossible. The AFL does have tie breakers that go beyond percentage but who knows what they are.

Now that I think of it, I suppose a F/S prospect does have the right to say that they would prefer to go into the open draft? I know a few players have chosen between F/S and academy, but I don't think anyone has said that they think that the club is crap and that they'd rather try their luck elsewhere.
