Haven't really played our best, but I still feel that we should have put the game to bed a while ago. Heeney was excellent that quarter.

Just thought I'd look up what the Rosas trade was.
"Rosas has joined the Swans in exchange for Picks 51 and 69, with the Swans also receiving Pick 62 from the Suns."
Seems like good value.👍 2Comment

Our ground ball defence is terrible in our defensive 50. We are at sea with fast moving wading players. The decision by Mills, Bice and Melican to take on the players in defense was terrible. This was a great test for our defence. And then what can we say about our over hand balling and turning the ball over. We were doing it too much and the correct balance of hand balling to kicking was missing at times. But against seasoned opposition it is a good reminder for us that there are many things to work on.
We have good players and good forward craft that we are able to turn the entries into scores. And to an extent it’s not an easy exit for opposition so it was ok in the end. But against seasoned opposition and more dynamic players we would not have the same result.
great game by Rosas. He is a lovely kick and seems to be a very good player. Good complimentary player to Papley. Heeney you star. Just gives his 100%.Comment

I don't really know what to make of that? On one hand, we played some brilliant attacking football, with pretty well every player doing good things, with some stand out performances. In attack, Rosas was amazing, Amartey continued his progression to a quality key forward and McDonald was useful. In the midfield, Grundy had a tireless 250th, Heeney was excellent in the second half, Warner and McInerney showed plenty of flair, Serong and Roberts were efficient on the wings, Rowbottom, Johnson and Sheldrick did plenty of grunt work. In defence, Mills was very good, Melican and Edwards were competitive against the talls, while Rampe, Blakey and Wicks moved the ball out of defence with plenty of class.
And yet, I was just a bit disappointed that Melbourne got so close. At times we seemed to lack intensity and some of the tackling left a bit to be desired. Although maybe I have a view of this team that's a bit inflated? In that, I know how well this team can play, so I expect them to play brilliantly most of the time, while forgetting that other teams can also play very well and that they're obviously trying to thwart our brilliance. So, maybe I should be happier with the result? But I suspect that Cox will be happy with our 131, but not so happy with their 114.Comment

That bit about ground ball in d50 is spot on. It was also an issue two weeks ago re the Giants but they failed to kick straight. Toby Greene could have kicked five but was absurdly wayward. And as you said, neither Mills or Bice were good tonight. Bice needs to understand there is pressure on for spots and Cox has already shown with Melican this season he’s not stuffing around. It also reinforces the importance of McCartin’s marking prowess down there. Long felt he’s the most irreplaceable player on our list. Our ground ball defence is terrible in our defensive 50. Otherwise, very good. Rosas obviously won’t kick seven every week but he’s a smart footballer. He holds his width and creates space. Heeney, Blakey, Juzzy and Grundy were very good. I loved Wicks game and JJ did a good job on Pickett given the form he’s been in. Anyway, a bit to work on but we keep banking the wins.Comment
