Means we won't have the capacity to drop the two non performers we promoted for the Cats game and will need to find a couple of small forwards to replace Paps and Rosas. Only blokes giving a yelp in the twos are the talls.
I disagree with saying we're lucky we're playing the lower sides over the next few weeks as they are the ones we need to make sure we win against. Playing Freo etc we're possibly likely to lose anyway.
So we now have six players out of our best team - Errol, Braedan, Matt Roberts, Dane, Paps, Mal.Last edited by The Big Cat; 26 May 2026, 05:27 PM.Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

I am disappointed that Papley and Rosas would be out. I think we can cover them, however. Who comes in? Phillipou, Datolli, Cunningham, Corey W?
Then there's Ladhams. Surely now is the time to include Ladhams and give Grundy a bit of a rest? Having two rucks would have foiled Geelong's ruck tactics last week.
A couple of injuries is nothing compared to Richmond's injury toll. They have so many players out injured that the injured players could make a team of their own.

Rosas, Papley, Gulden, Roberts, Rampe, Campbell - that’s a long list of best 23 players out.
Richmond not a problem even with those outs but St kilda the following week would be a different proposition ! They always play well against us.
Ladhams in - Grundy needs a week off maybe ! Or less game time.
Cleary and Hanily to stay, Cootee to come in and maybe Dattoli debuts
Cunningham may come in too. He has been played out of position due to Bice doing well. And hasn’t thrived in his new position. Maybe put Cunningham back and put Bice on the wing.
I think we can also look at Melican for a rest and bring in Hamling.
I am sorry to say this but We only need one more injury - Heeney or Grundy and we are in a free fall ! I hope we can get through to the bye and start getting some players back.👍 1Comment

I’m more convinced than ever the side with the least injuries at the right time will win the flag this year. It’s always an element but there’s no mistake the Hawks and to a degree us, slipped a bit as they copped a few, and Freo and the Cats are flying as they’re largely full strength.
The good news is Errol was on AFL360 tonight saying that if everything goes to plan he might be available for the Lions game post-bye. Still got some heavy weight and contact training to do but … fingers crossed.Comment

Some one said all our talls are available, @@@@ing play them like every other team does and it will matter less who is at their feet if we are contesting high balls and providing options
Also correct in saying Heeney or Grundy out puts us in deep @@@@, can't believe this @@@@wit is running Grundy into the ground, everyone else in the country can see itComment

The latest injury list has 12 players: Injury Update: Papley and Rosas Jnr sidelined (sydneyswans.com.au). Important players in the list (weeks): Campbell (7-8), Gulden (4-5), Papley (6), Rampe (4-5), Roberts (1), Rosas (1-2)."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

Datolli, we may as well send him to Vic now if he doesnt play with Paps and Rosas out
Ladhams
Might as well test the 2 ruck theory against a poor team, Bye in a few weeks, Grundy can rest then.
Can't deny the requirement for 2 ruck in todays game after Chris Scott just provided the blueprint to beat Grundy, 1 of his ruck was 19Comment

I think it would be a good week to give Patrick Snell his debut. Richmond have few KPF options this week and Snell has earned is chance, not only with his excellent play this year, but also how well he has played since we drafted him. Perhaps in for Melican.👍 1Comment

At least they are not long term injuries and it gives some of the depth contenders to show what they can do. Players like Paps and Ramps are going to have to be managed as both are susceptible to calf injuries. Time to give the likes of Snell and Datolli etc some game time to see what they can do. Couldn’t agree more with you. The Cats and Freo will have their injury run. Having players fit at the end of the home and away season is critically importantI’m more convinced than ever the side with the least injuries at the right time will win the flag this year.
