General footy chat Round 19: the other games.

While I've been death riding St Kilda this season, I sort of hope that they win tonight, because Geelong slipping further into trouble, is a prospect that greatly appeals to me.

Collingwood v Carlton might be a fun game. Although I've no idea who I want to win that.

Hopefully the Suns will get their season vaguely back on track, by defeating the Bulldogs on Sunday, but their mediocre recent form doesn't fill me with any confidence.

I suspect St Kilda fans might be getting a bit irritated by the 9-1 free kick count.

Make that 10-1, with the gift goal that Henry got, for holding Wilkie's jumper.

St Kilda effectively killed the academies. I hope they never get a free for the next decade.

It'll be interesting to see if Naughton gets fined for staging, after he threw himself on the ground, following some very gentle contact from Andrew.

Don't know why I bother watching Suns games? They really are playing some mediocre football, for a side that has a lot of talent.

Switch over to the Bombers-GWS match. Essendon are actually playing well and now Toby Greene is out with a quad or thigh.

I would love the Bombers to upset the Giants. I don't usually say this, but go Bombers.

Stringer has kicked 0.7 so far. Why couldn’t he save that till next week?

We will see if they survive a couple of years in Essendon’s development system, which is apparently prehistoric, but the three kids the Bombers got in the first round of last year’s draft all look like they’ll give them something. Robey in particular

I haven't really seen much of Essendon this year, but I was impressed by Dyson Sharp in his draft year.

I caught most of that Bombers vs. Giants game, Essendon and their fans haven't had much to cheer about this year so good for them to get a win- but sheesh, that really was just a terrible day at the office by the Giants forwards and some generally favourable umpiring that got them over the line.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Can someone tell me how a side that is capable of Beating Brisbane, Fremantle and Geelong can lose to Essendon?

Here are the teams in ladder order with GWS' results playing each team.

                            Fremantle W
                            Sydney Swans L
                            Hawthorn WL
                            Brisbane Lions W
                            Adelaide Crows --
                            Melbourne W
                            Western Bulldogs L
                            Collingwood L
                            Geelong Cats W
                            St Kilda LL
                            GWS GIANTS **
                            Carlton L
                            North Melbourne W
                            Gold Coast SUNS L
                            Port Adelaide --
                            West Coast Eagles L
                            Essendon WL
                            Richmond W

GWS haven't played Adelaide or Port Adelaide yet.

Five wins against teams higher than them on the ladder including the top team on a 13-game winning streak and scoring 14 goals in a quarter against the reigning premiers. Four losses against teams lower than them on the ladder including a loss to the bottom team that had not won at home for 14 months. That is preposterous.
