we were going to start off slow anyway, might as well do it against soft opposition

    Look on the bright side....

we get to play these teams twice (as well as brisbane and tigers at home!)
    Onwards to Victory!

I prefer route (a) to the premiership.

We are where we are because of what has gone before. Change that and who knows! Perhaps 1-7 could lead to a flag. But I do know that 1-3 has been followed by 5-3.

Excellent point. Sydney has in recent years a very strong record of going 1-1 against those teams it plays twice. (Which I suppose is another way of saying that it starts the year like crap and finishes it strongly.) Better to rack up the loss early and the win later than the other way around. Not that I want us to go 1-1 agin' the Blions, Richmond, Carlton or Cats.

(And let's face it: on current form we have an almost impossibly favourable draw of teams to play twice; if you could hand-pick them you'd replace Melbourne with the Roos or Hawthorn, and that'd be the only change you'd make.)

I thought that in R2 Port played a great team game of terrific intensity, and would've stood a very good chance of beating us even if we'd 'turned up to play'. Whereas how on earth we didn't finish all over the top of Essendon in the final quarter, is beyond me. They even won the quarter. Essendon never win final quarters.

So was Malceski, but good to hear he used as an inspiration to work harder.

BTW, I can't beleive they have this game on TV on Sat, the two cellar dwellers, when 4 v an upcoming Hawks, is on.

I agree with some of the sentiments above, although it was extremely frustrating at the time I think the boys needed those losses to get the season back on track.

I was bitterly bitterly disappointed & depressed about playing so poorly against when it was supposed to be our day of celebration in raising our first Premiership flag in 72 years. So much of a high then such a drop back to earth.

People I know flew from Melbourne adelaide Brisbane & Perth in celebration of our acheivement & were served up that rubbish. I felt hopelessly depressed the next day at work. Hardly said a thing all day.

Still that matters little now. We always knew we were going to start slowly. We are going heaps better at this time of the year than I was expecting.

I'm already thinking "Back to Back" to myself. that is how confident i am about how we are going right now.

I predict another Syd v WC grand final this year.

                        Quite possibly Swans - Pies.

It would only be a dream if we won. Imagine if we let the Pies get a Premiership!

Losing would be a nightmare, but inflicting another grand final loss on them would be fun.

I have never even seen that game. I was I was camping at Treachery that weekend. I have the box set and actually threw the disc out! I had heard enough to know I shouldn't punish myself by watching it.

your spot on the loss to port was a shambles i travelled up to syd to watch its a long way to go to see a crappy loss like that
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

                                Dons loss.
That ball was in our forward for 85% of the time we were on tied & they couldn't even get the ball to the boot.
First chance they get it to their forward, they scored.
