It was without doubt one of the worst commentaries I've heard. I found it very difficult to watch the game, both because it was exceptionally boring, and the commentary was atrocious. It was amateur at best.

Almost certainly!

In the last 5 minutes of the game when he really had no choice.
What irritates me about the delayed start is that you can't listen to an alternative commentary. I began listening to the MMM call and heard the first three Swans goals before the game was due to commence on the TV broadcast. It felt like I was going back in time the watch the game on around a 20-25 min delay. Once you start watching on the teev you're really stuck with it then and you can't go back to the radio. I'm sure this strategy suits the TV network and I think just about every one of our evening games (at least the interstate ones) has been a delayed coverage.

Only the Swans games that Channel 10 are showing are on delayed coverage, Channel 9 is fine...

"Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I can beat you, I've got Charizard!"
I didn't mind Parkin. I think he likes the swans and does say a good things. He also gets really outraged at poor umpiring decisions. He also says encouraging things about the Hawks. Who with Jeff giving them a public serve is what they need.
ROberts Lewis Thompson and Schnieds/Buchanan mixups all seemed to have sadly disappeared from Barletts call!

Bring back Derm and Commets please!
All that is very true.
Parko is a touch old fashioned but he has a good heart and good knowledge of the game, respect and so forth.
KB is way way past it in terms of game calling skill. I don't actually think he's trying any more. He makes regular errors in calling players and repeats the same calls thinking he's some sort of cult figure...not good enough.
His latest thing he's calling to death is "right through the heart!"
Says it 5 times a game.
The Pain of Discipline is Nothing Like The Pain of Disappointment
I'm a Parko fan - he cares about the game which is more than you can say about some of the other big commentator egos.
That said, he was alittle desperate to find some good in the Hawks performance on Saturday. I think the FF A team may have been in Perth for the Eagles game.

I think you'll find that is because we get MOSTLY saturday night and sunday day games. As a general rule, the night games are delayed and the day games are live. Therefore, Channel ten would by default be showing a lot of delayed games as they have Saturdays.
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out.... Des' Weblog

Good point...
