    Kangaroos fan accident

    Article
Oh, boy ... Glad they rang the club with their message, but I almost bet Dean Laidley won't be feeling well.

      Tragic.

        UNBELIEVEABLE!!

Even though Dean was totally in no way involved (related incident after the footy spat) he must still feel pretty low...very sad.
        Swannies for life!

Still, when I read yesterday about Laidley's reaction I thought that was a totally unprofessional response.

Laidley is so close to being sacked...

It shows his response to pressure: it's obviously getting to him. I heard his press conference after the game and apparently the fan said something like 'well that's us gone for the year" to which Laidley responded along the lines of " come down to the rooms and see how we're hurting".
The news of the fans untimely death is quite bizarre.

If he had used his brains he could have gotten the guy into the rooms to tell the players what the supporters were feeling about their form, when you are struggling anything could help.

I thought I recalled Seven News say he committed suicide. Regardless of how he died it's still a tragedy and this doesn't do anything good for the Kangaroos' season. It'll be no surprise that the match over at Manuka will be dedicated to him...

Laidley should have ignored any comments made and just kept walking.

The comments he made after the game were innapropriate, how was he to know that the person was drunk, just because they had a beer in their hand. He should have just made "No Comment"

Ultimately coaches shouldn't be made to walk through the fans to get on the ground.

Laidley should have ignored him, but otherwise I don't see he didn't anything wrong. Certainly wouldn't have invited some random supporter down to the rooms as that's hardly going to make any difference. I don't know why they should dedicate the next match to him either. It's a shame for people who know the guy but it's not really anything to do with the club.

Will they now do their North Melbourne tradition and try cash in on it?? ie. McCartney and the extra numbers of the guernsey... The match v Carey playing for the Crows... I know they're down on dollars but they keep on playing the same card again n again.

That's pretty poor taste. Grow up mate.

                            A) Laidley should have ignored him - no excuses for a professional coach in that situation

                            B) The media exposure would not have done anything for a person with mental health issues

                            Very sad.

Dean had nothing to do with this man's death.

His death should not be linked to Dean in any kind of direct way at all.

Junkyard should definitely have ignored such an innocuous comment from a disappointed fan. They must happen a hundred times a season, so why turn around now? Fate can be inexplicable at times.

When he said "that's us gone for the season", little did any of us know that he meant more than just the Kangaroos.
