next season we could get darcy daniher (son of anthony, yes he did play 100 games for us) available as well

lets hope the club can play "hardball" with carlton and essendon and get these 2 future guns to the bloods

by all reports joe daniher is just as good but is only 12 years old
    !!!!!
They always say that about the Danihers.

My son knows Darcy's mother. I will see if he can get some scoops on it.

Hopefully these boys think differently. BTW, did anybody on here actually see Smiler Dempster's old man play? How did his style (and quality) contrast with his son?
Good point. If they are getting the same money why would they go interstate.

Horses for courses. His dad had a 70's "Larry Long Hair" style and indeed he played in the 70's, so he was with the times, and Sean has the 2000's gel style.

Bit harsh to come the uppercut on the old man.

What's your point here Enstein. Jobe's pretty handy (would love him with us) Ted Jnr played 144 games, Paul Hudson played a heap of games (how many premierships?) Brown can play, and Reece and Heath Shaw are proving pretty handy.

on the long weekend in the greater sydney reps carnival.

So will Ben Carroll (son of Dennis) age 13

I'm sorry Graham, I meant no disrespect.

I liked watching Dempster snr play, he was always exciting to watch whether in the 1's or the 2's.

But the haircut reminded me of some of the clothes that I wore in the 70's.

Murphy was a bit of a special case in that he would have known he was going to be one of the first two or three players picked and therefore was certain to stay in Melbourne. Most players have much less of an idea where they are going to be picked and therefore it really is a lottery as to which state they land up in.

If a player can choose between two clubs, in Williams jnr's case (assuming either club wants him), the equation does change again. I wonder whether Williams relationship with Carlton will come into play. Didn't he feel a little betrayed by board manouevering when Jack Elliott was ousted?

Might be the case, might also be the case that Williams still has a fondness for the Swans as seen by him paying his own way to watch the Swans in the 96 Prelim Final while still a Blues player and again was there thoughout our run last year. His heart never left the club he just got sick and tried of the lack of training facilies on offer and pay cuts demanded of him.

Man you guys need to stake out a few VFL matches especially regarding the Clokes, Shaws, the younger Abletts, and Jobe Watson. Working for a VFL club I get a regular look at some shoddy players keeping better ones out of these leagues just cos of their old man.

Some serious Elmer Fudd (duds) among the above. Most are reaching mid-20s with way more reserve footy than senior time.

IMO Graham Dempster was an ordinary player on a good day...his son is much better. Also much better looking...Graham not only had a horrible haircut...but (sorry) was let us say "ordinary" looking.
SMFC must have rocks in his head about father / son...most of the players he mentioned have produced footballers that would get a game with us most years!

From what I recall Dempster was your classic 1970s Swan - could play really well on his day, but 'his day' was only every now and again, and the rest would be just average or he would go missing completely. Pretty much par for the course.

Almost the perfect mini-history of our club really.

Was looking through the sports details in today's paper and noticed one D Roos named to represent NSW in the PSSA AFL squad. A potential F/S pickup in the making?

                            I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

I'm confused as to whether he's eligible or not. (For us, that is. The Lions could take him.)

Roosey didn't play enough games. There used to be a rule that enabled sons of officials / administrators of clubs to qualify but hasn't that been abolished?

What is the eligibility? Graham Dempster only played 64 games for the Swans. Roos played 87.
