    Swans kiddies day last sunday

Got a report from friends who took their 2 kids to the kids clinic on the weekend - they were so impressed with all the players - their daughter was in a group with one T Kennelly (incase I spell his name wrong and I get jumped on by the cranky pants spelling police). anyway - after their time had finished he got them to line up for autographs - he dropped his footy and it rolled off, young Rebecca went and fetched it for him and she said "here you are you dropped your football" his response, a big smile and "thank you but its your football now" - he has a new life long fan in young Bec.

Bec's Dad said that the clinic was so well run and the boys are to be congratulated for the way they treated the kids, because kids can be total brats at times, they were all a real credit to the club.

Young Jack had a fantastic time at the Sydney clinic last year. All we heard for a month afterwards was how wonderful Nick and Barry were, and how Barry said "good work Jack" It doesn't take much to make a kids' day. Mum said it was really well organised and the kids all had a ball. Small things like this make life-long Swans supporters out of kiddos.

My son has a bit of a crazy name and Tadhg made Goody Stella's heart melt by asking our son what his name was and then repeating it perfectly (no need to say it to him 8 times).

I think part of my obscene infatuation with Nick Davis is because of how wonderful he is with kids. He seems to have time for every kid that approaches him and he clearly remembers and recognizes faces. My son invented a game called "Nick Davis" which used to just involve standing next to someone, pushing off from them and sprinting away but now also includes (new and improved!) pretending he has the ball and fending off people. He does it whilst we are out at the shops, lobster only knows what people think. He wants footy boots like Nick, which is about the highest praise you can get from a 5 y.o.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

                    That is awesome.

I haven't had much to do with junior clinics but I remember quite a number of years ago Crouch came to a presentation day for my brother's team and ended up playing handball against the wall with us for ages, long after he could have left. Really, really nice guy.

That's just so beautiful. Perhaps Tadhg empathised with young Stella knowing how frustrating it can be when people can't be bothered trying to pronounce your name correctly.
As an aside I get fed up all the time when folk correct my pronunciation of my surname. I don't mind so much if they say it when they've just seen it written down, it just annoys me when I say it and they correct me or say it the way they believe it should be said. grr.
                          Bring it on!
