I agree with you on Dempster's last quarter - he was a pretty important player at times.

He reminds me of Ablett in a way, in that both seem so self-effacing and/or well-drilled out on the ground to do the defensive thing that sometimes they almost seem to sell themselves short in terms of providing an attacking thrust. With Ablett, the confidence to know when to back himself has been developing over the last 18 months and hopefully the same thing will happen with Dempster.

As the starter of several threads over the past couple of years with a similar title I guess i should officially put my name on the list.

That was possibly the worst performance I have EVER seen by a plyer in red and white (11 years). Considering that two of benny's most memorable shockers were against the saints last year then surely, surely anyone in their right mind would have to consider that someone else could do a better job.

The quintessential benny moment, you know the one where the gently rolling ball went through his legs, has happened soooooooo many times and, worse, at critical times, (in the forward pocket with free players in front of goal in the prelim for example) that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

I cannot believe that any professional could drop as many easy handballs as he does, or take so long to get a quick disposal away. He made ludicrous errors that cost goals on Sunday. The real point is that the errors were not mental ones which can be cured, but long standing skill problems which will never, ever be mended........obviously.

Seriously does he have some photos because how could any rational being think that Schmidt, Moore, Vogels, Willoughby would not have offered more than that. And what we saw was what we expected to see, so it's not like he had a below par performance. An even worse thought is that if Malceski and Williams were fit would Dempster and Mcveigh be the emergencies? 'Cos that would be truly ridiculous.

BTW wasn't it you, Annie who led such a spirited defence when I posted after the Saints rnd 10 game a comprehensive breakdown of Benny's errors....apparently I was being harsh....

I had to drill back to the first page to see that I hadn't been imagining this comment. Were you referring to Ted .. as in Richards? He is gaining consistency at this level (and yes I know he was with the bummers - albeit, like Craig B warming the bench). I don't think it beggars belief to suggest that Vogels might be better than Ted.

Ted has been beaten by nearly every opponent he has played on this year as far as I can recall. Occassionally he has been pantsed.

His kicking is poor and his decision making questionable (when to fly, when to kick, handball etc....occasionally he does both at the same time with shocking results...ie blazing away up the left wing with a full blooded left foot kick under not too much pressure...OOB, I mean what the hell was he thinking???) Vogels has shown more than that, I reckon.

Kicking for goal appalling.....compared to Vogels, I mean, come on!

So all in all does not beggar belief.

when the game was on the line in the last quarter benny kicked it straight to a roos player. i keep trying to remind myself the bloke's got skill but im tired of him! swap him for one of the young guns playing in the 2's- bcos if we dont play them they might leave and these kids could be really, really good.

I appreciate in the past Benny may have had a place, but with the talent playing in the Reserves we really can't carry him just because he was decent.
Another thing I would like to point out is his goal kicking, absolutely shocking. Granted his role is not to kick goals, but when given the opportunity of a set shot on goal I think he would be just about last person on the team you would want to take it.( sorry Torture, you are on the bottom, only because we haven't seen you take a shot. You may actually be better than LRT!).

Funny how when the stats prove that you don't know what you're talking about it must mean that the stats are ridiculous.

The facts are that the Swans are convinced that Mathews is an invaluable member of the squad, and the stats support that. Compared to that, your opinion is ridiculous.
