My weak argument? You're comparing him to O'Keefe, Goodes and Buchanan. Or did I miss something?

I said "The good things that Goodes, O'Keefe and Buchanan do, far outweigh the good things that Mathews does." You said I was wrong. I don't know how you were mis-quoted.

Are you saying that because he gets a game every week, we should rate him?

Those "stats" you produced do not show the negative things he does, such as creating ball-ups and fumbling at the crucial moment.

      I can't.

Give me a clue what you're talking about, and what it's got to do with my post?
Try looking at the statement that I quoted of yours, and how it relates to Plugger46's comments. And refer to the post immediately preceding this one.

Benny's been dropped from the side, so this thread can be closed now. Amen.

Zlatorog, the knife needs to be twisted a little further.

In round 17, 2000, Ben Mathews (or Ben Matthews as I call him), collected a career high 36 disposals including 25 kicks, 11 handballs, 6 marks and a goal.

He failed to poll a brownlow vote. MOL got the three votes with 18 possies and 3 goals.

In round 18, 2001 we flogged the Kangaroos and Ben Matthews topped the disposal counts again with an impressive 30 touches, including 24 kicks and 6 handballs. Truly the halcyon days for Benny as he scored 1 brownlow vote (again MOL 3 votes - 24 possies with 1 goal).

Apparently, over his 159 games and 11 years with the Swans, Benny has scored 4 Brownlow votes. I must have drifted off when he scored the other three because I didn't notice. Amon is catching up fast with 3 votes in 48 games, Goodes has 40 votes with only 2 more games (he'd have stretched his lead this year), and ROK has 12 votes in 93 games.

Ben Matthews is just plain run of the mill vanilla average. Watching him play is like driving to Adelaide in a Toyota Camry listening to Barry Manilow on a jumpy CD.

I actually feel quite sorry for the guy, it cannot be nice having your team's supporters sign a petition for your removal. However, to keep his spot he now has to play much better than Dempster, Schmidt & Willo 2 et al, because these guys are the future of the club. He's a renowned club man so I am sure he undestands that.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.
