    from 4th to 6th in a blink...
we have a tough 3 weeks ahead as well.
    Fremantle @ home
    Adelaide @ home
    West Coast @ Subi...

could easily find ourselves out of the 8 in the next 3 weeks if we dont pick it up at home.

Yet again our tackling was crap.

If I compare this year to last year, when on song our skill level and fluidity seem buch better.

However, our tackling intensity and effectiveness seems to be down.

Doesn't matter against the weaker sides.

However I particularly noticed it last week and tonight. Too many tackles didn't stick, enabling the opposition to brush them off and get free. Even for tackles that did stick, the opposition is too easily able to stand up in the tackle and find a team mate and get the ball off.

This is one thing that needs to change and I think our game will improve again.

We should be well placed to win 3 of the next 4 and we really need to do so.

I noted that at 3 quarter time Jude and Kirky had 1 tackle between them. Not what you would expect from the 2nd and 3rd ranked tacklers in the league.

Our leading tacklers for the game were Jolly, Davis, Goodes, Kirk, Kennelly and Chambers.

How many uncontested possessions did R Shaw get? Nearly every one.

Chambers, Jolly and Richards all dropped critical marks. (I think Buckley told Davis he did too.)

            Tackling atrocious.

Jolly and Richards gave the ball to the Magpies a number of times.

Hall goes missing at crucial stages. His one on one body work is never any good, unless he can push them in the back.

Barry, LRT and Bolton did an honourable job in defence.

Crouch and Williams and nights to forget.

J Bolton went missing for much of the game.

ROK had a consistent game, but FFS, kick a goal son.

Chambers had atleast 2 kicks!! Yay, and a handball. Rucking look shocking.

Collingwood put terrific pressure on us which caused us to fumble and panic at times. We were beaten by a better side pure and simple.

I thought our inabilty to hang on to tackles cost us and allowed them to break away too easily, and this in turn allowed a man up field to sprint clear.

I thought our intensity was ok. We probably would have beaten most other sides.

Got beaten at centre clearances at vital times. The rucks hit to the opposition monotinously.

Had plenty of it around centre but wanted to finess too much instead of taking a first option. Collingwood did the exact opposite.

Midfield disposal was ordinary. How many kicks dropped a metre in front of leading forwards.

Really showed up our lack of a mobile big ruckman. Thought Jolly was ordinary as was his second efforts. Contrast that to Fraser who always buttered up. Chambers got a bit more of it but was ineffective.

Why did Goodes do a dinky kick when running into goal in the 3rd Q.

Appalling set shots. You can now not rely on MOL as an effective forward target.

The game is now too fast for Mathews. He cant keep up.

              13 points - not disastrous.

Richards - well I said in bold letters last round. The fact he took 2 marks in the last Q tell for nothing. Now we know why Essendon let him go. Poor at the ball and kicks horridly.

We need to learn how to stage for frees. Didak does it almost at every contest. We just let them hang on. Should now start squelling for frees.

Gave it away before the finish...a carbon copy of the Essendon game...a few brave souls but Collingwood far too good on the night.
We were mistake ridden...is anyone still on the Richards bandwagon? Soft, error prone, indecisive.
Goodes at his lairy worst most of the night...definitely watching the game instead of participating at times.
Kirk made some dreadful decisions, Willo looked like he thought he had retired.
Saw Matthews make 1 mistake from 2 touches...did he get injured? Davis??? Has he fallen out with someone? LRT valiant but too many probs flow from his awkwardness.
Barry a minefield waiting to explode...in either direction or perhaps in a circle!
                  We are in trouble.
                  Will the changes be made???

I thought the same thing. Collingwood are a good team, although Walls and hudson seemed to forget that.

Definitely!! Need a Rucksman who can hold a mark.

The reserves need a player like him.

I found it quite incredible how we ran back into trouble so often. Almost as if Buchanan, Fosdike and Ablett read the Leo Barry memoirs during the bye.

Also thought the pace of the game had Ablett in trouble.

What happened to Schneider in the last Q?

Ablett looked well out of it - more like a first year player.

Collingwood looked pretty good. I said before they were a decent side.

However they looked well below Melbourne the other week and seemed to be struggling for confidence. So how much of it was we looked poor. We still should have won.

                          Positives:
                          1. Sydney under Paul Roos are the best team in the league-- in fact the best team that I've ever seen-- at manufacturing losing margins that flatter them and make the game look misleadingly close.
                          2. Um... ahh...

(Well, okay, there were others, but I'd rather not dwell on them now.)

To me we looked far too unaccountable all over the ground.

As I said earlier we finessed too much causing us to slip (they didnt) rather than drive it long to put pressure on their backs. It looked to me they came from the bye much fresher and fitter. I dont doubt our fitness as we finished on OK again, but we just seem to lack that entire game concentration we had last year.

Maybe our slightly freer game plan isnt quite working. Should we go back to shut down mode?

On the "odd" occasion we turned the ball over, the magpies had free options all over the ground.
