If Baz is subjected to trial by media for a strike to the tummy caught by the cameras, surely Farmer should get the same treatment.

I assess Farmer's strike as reckless conduct, high contact, medium impact and in play. He's got priors and possibly carryover points, so if he's cited he's out for at least a week and possibly as many as three.

On Willo's attempted trip, it's worth looking at the record of the AFL's serial tripping offender, Dustin Fletcher of Essendon. He seems to get booked for tripping - not attempted trips - by hand or foot on average once a year, and he doesn't always get suspended for them. Willo didn't even make contact. I doubt very much if he'll even get one week if found guilty of attempting to trip, considering Fletcher seems to get off just about every time he defends a tripping charge.

Reprimand and a fine

Veteran Sydney midfielder Paul Williams was charged with attempting to trip Fremantle's Michael Johnson, although his good record means he can also reduce the penalty to a reprimand.

Fremantle players Josh Carr and Steven Dodd and Amon Buchanan from Sydney were all fined for wrestling.
