If we continue to improve on the form against Richmond AND if we keep near our best on the park AND if we can break even with the Umps, then I think we can make the 4 and a genuine shot at the flag.
Tough run home

I think there is a chance WC will slip down to 3rd or 4th though.Occupational hazards:

The HS in melb had a story the other day about the run home of teams and they gave 16 points if you play the team in 16th spot on the ladder and 7 points for 7th and so on.
The team with the highest number of points had the best run home. Using this system hawks had the easiest draw with Sydney the 2nd easiest. this is mainly due to playing the bottom and 2nd bottom teams.Comment

IMO if we beat port this week we can make the the top four.
Given that there will be a number of Melbourne-based sides in the finals this year, top 4 doesn't matter as much as normal.
Finishing outside the top 4 means you have to play each week, but last year we played 3 consecutive games.
If we finished 5th or 6th we would get one home game and two away, which is the same as last year.
The main differences are that:
(i) you have no chance of a week's rest and a home prelim.
(ii) you can't afford to drop that first game.
Useful, but not essential as we showed last year regarding the first point, plus it simply means we keep winning, which we can do if we're good enough. The first game would be at home in 5th or 6th anyway.
The key is not to draw Adelaide in the prelim.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

finals
Spot on bloods...wouldn't mind getting adelaide in the first round though remember they lost to the saints last year. I reckon i would rather meet them in the first week then the fourth. Home final in Adelaide will put them under a lot of pressure.Comment

The one thing i always look forward to about this time of year is doing the ladder predictor from the AFL site, where you go through the rest of the year and pick who you think will win each game and it gives you a final ladder.
They don't seem to have it this year,or i can't find it anywayThe Future is Bright,The Future is Red And White.Comment
