I think we played a twilight ANZAC game versus Melbourne on a Friday night in Sydney a couple of years ago, but that was a little different because I assume it was a public holiday (???) so there wouldn't have been a problem with those who work 'til 5/6pm having to rush to get to the game.

I like the idea of a Friday night at the footy, but not the idea of trying to leave work early and battle Friday arvo traffic from Newcastle trying to make it on time.

Yeah, I dunno. My team losing on Friday ruins the whole weekend. I don't want to read the papers or watch any other games.

Plus forfeiting that timespot leaves us free to get a couple of other fixture preferences.

I'd love it - a great start to the weekend.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Im going to have to agree with Butch here. I enjoy gearing myself up for our Saturday night or Sunday arvo clashes. It really does give you something to look forward to on the weekend (plus if you go watch the Reserves beforehand you can really make a whole day out of it)

I wouldn't want a game on Friday night as I would usually come home from school and relax after 5 days of work. I don't think I'll have the energy to pay attention to 2 hours of football, let alone, cheering and screaming.

I voted no because it would inconvenience JF.

                    Correct.
It was ANZAC Day 2003, but it was a Friday night match at the SCG when we kicked 10 goals in the last quarter to win by 24 points - thus kickstarting our surprise (to all outside the club) run to the preliminary final.

It was the first ANZAC clash between Sydney and Melbourne and was supposed to remain as an ANZAC night clash at the SCG every year for the Ron Barassi Cup.
The match is still played on the relevant weekend, but has not since been played on the actual day.

'member when we last played on a Monday night? I am sure it was against the dees in 98 the night plugger kicked his ton - again.

I still don't agree with friday nights as there is always someone wanting to go out and get plastered on friday night.

Sundays helps me relax, read the papers, watch relevant media on TV and then sit down and get into the game.

What more could a person want on a sunday!

It has not been possible for the swans to play on a Friday night, in Sydney or anywhere, because Channel 9 in Sydney shows the Rugby League and as they own Friday night AFL broadcasting until the end of this year, no-one wanted a broadcasting clash.
It may happen when the 7/10 channels get the rights, but for mine, I do not want to have to get to the SCG or Telstra in Friday night traffic. Nightmare!

As a Melbourne member, night games in Sydney are a bit of a pain 'cause you have to stay overnight. I love the sunday arvos as you can be up and back in the one day.

Happy to see us play friday night in Melbourne though!

Nothing like the eternal pessimism of a long time Swans supporter.

I mean, they COULD win on a Friday night. I think it'd be great if that happened. So if we scheduled a friday night game against, say, Richmond, I'd be all for it.

Especially down here in ol Melbourne town.
