GS14, The upswell of rage and raw emotion led to a 5 minute window of clarity in which I was able to bash out this email. I have now decended back into the haze of mediocrity and midunderstanding.

    What were you saying?

If you want players to keep their snouts out of the media trough, don't double up by laying into players in the media

If the club policy is to select on effort and mindset rather than effectiveness, just friggin well come and and say it instead of this endless spin.

This whole bloods thing has started to make me feel uncomfortable, because like any dominant credo, it ultimately creates insiders and outsiders. Some of the insiders, quite frankly do not deserve their spot in the team based on effort alone because they are not contributing to the team in fact. Great, demote players who are being lazy @@@@heads, but equally demote players who are trying their guts out and contributing squat. Seniority and past records should not come into it. I am sure that will be quite an effective approach.

As for those who think the current approach worked well enough last year and therefore should work well this year, that's just wishful thinking. It worked well last year because the players happened to be in form, they were hungry and injuries were few. Different story altogether now.

I blame the current state of play on that horrible sales poster that says '99% perspiration, 1% inspiration'. Maybe Paul Roos has that in his office. I prefer a meritocracy - effectiveness = talent x hard work. If either is lacking get out of the way for someone else.

Enjoy it while it lasts. In nine months time your brain will be mush and you wont be able to remember your user name or password. Oh and a great post. The insider/outsider is spot on. The insiders don't see it though, they translate it to right/wrong. Where is Erin - we need some deconstruction!

Only seven months of sanity and clarity left. Found out today they are non-identical, so at least I will be able tell them apart. Note only that, but the probability of having at least one son I can take to the footy just went up from 50% to 75%. Bonus.

If they are two boys I'll call one Brett and the other Nick in commemoration of this difficult time at the Swans.

exactly Legs - but you realise that there will be those who will not accept this as logic and will call you nasty names because of it
              such is life.

Now if its 2 boys - Kirky Davo Akimbo & Pauly Davo Akimbo - have the nickname from birth purely to avoid confusion.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Can't you take a daughter to the football Legs?

Best times of my childhood were just Dad and I at the footy.

I had two goldfish called Otis and Retard. They died when I went to Adelaide for five weeks work and forgot about them.

But put the dots together and work out which one resembled Nick and which resembled Kirk.

Of course. I already have two daughters and when I come back to Oz, I'll definitely be taking them to the footy. My eldest is very good at yelling 'go swannies' irrespective of who is playing on the TV. But I have always wanted to take my son to the footy. 'Little champ' All that sort of stuff. It's different.
