And another agreement on the drainage! As Liz mentioned, that West Coast game springs to mind, as does the draw that year against Essendon - although it stopped raining at the ground a couple of hours beforehand, don't I think Grant Hackett would have been out of place having a splash around.
This weather's as foul as a chicken coop

It pissed down for a few days before the Richmond game two weeks ago and I thought the ground was fine on the night, considering. I think that the drainage is very good.
It really is foul weather outside. Hopefully will ease up tomorrow.Last edited by cruiser; 4 August 2006, 08:11 PM.Occupational hazards:

8:45pm Friday night
Check out the SCG webcam now.
The rain has stopped for a couple of hours. And from what you can see of the ground, it looks a 1000% better than it did at 445pm earlier today.
Showers ARE predicted for tomorrow. But at the moment it DOES look OK for play.

I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

They didn't call it the Lake Oval just because it was near a Lake. I remember going to a game in the mid 70's, it may have been against Geelong. It was mud and pools of water from one end of the ground to the other. I think, with the drought and with better technology, we gorget what the conditions used to be like. We and the players are spoilt with the great state of our footy grounds these days. Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Talking of the G.O.D's makes me grateful for modern technology...sometimes. But in the 50s and 60s (yeah, I was there!), the glue plots they played on would blow the minds of present day players.
And the sensitivity of the after match kickaround at the 2 Sydney grounds..tiny bit of rain and no kick round, makes me think of aftermatch kicks at the old Fitzroy ground, in mud half way up to yr knees! And HUNDREDS of kids and adults out there!Comment
