And another agreement on the drainage! As Liz mentioned, that West Coast game springs to mind, as does the draw that year against Essendon - although it stopped raining at the ground a couple of hours beforehand, don't I think Grant Hackett would have been out of place having a splash around.

Wow, I can now sit at home staring intensely at my computer pretending that I am sitting up in the MA Noble. That's better than Fox Footy!

It pissed down for a few days before the Richmond game two weeks ago and I thought the ground was fine on the night, considering. I think that the drainage is very good.

It really is foul weather outside. Hopefully will ease up tomorrow.

            8:45pm Friday night

Check out the SCG webcam now.

The rain has stopped for a couple of hours. And from what you can see of the ground, it looks a 1000% better than it did at 445pm earlier today.

Showers ARE predicted for tomorrow. But at the moment it DOES look OK for play.

Sure does look a lot better. Having just got home from dinner at my sister's, the wind is blowing a bit which will help with drying as well. But more rain like we had today for any extended period will see it looking a lot worse for wear.

I thought the ground was great that night given the conditions. Swantastic, don't you remember what the Lake Oval used to get like when it rained like that. They didn't call it the Lake Oval just because it was near a Lake. I remember going to a game in the mid 70's, it may have been against Geelong. It was mud and pools of water from one end of the ground to the other. I think, with the drought and with better technology, we gorget what the conditions used to be like. We and the players are spoilt with the great state of our footy grounds these days.

I just remember going with a group of friends, and it was so wet we paid to sit in the old cream brick stand. I think the final score was about 5 goals to 6. We won though.

Talking of the G.O.D's makes me grateful for modern technology...sometimes. But in the 50s and 60s (yeah, I was there!), the glue plots they played on would blow the minds of present day players.
And the sensitivity of the after match kickaround at the 2 Sydney grounds..tiny bit of rain and no kick round, makes me think of aftermatch kicks at the old Fitzroy ground, in mud half way up to yr knees! And HUNDREDS of kids and adults out there!

I'm about 50km south of the SCG on the coast and its starting to bucket down again and the weather is coming from the south so it usually moves up to the SCG from here. Was hopeful it would fine up. Not confident about our ability in the wet
