Ok, I haven't a clue what your point is now and judging from the replies to your post on BF, neither do they.

Are you saying that everyone at the Footy here in Sydney has to talk footy only because if we talk about other stuff it will give other states a bad impression about us? That way when you travel interstate to watch a game they don't see you a Sydney 'noob' but more like them?

Or are you simply saying that you find normal conversation really really really annoying when you're at the footy but for some magical reason you don't find it annoying at all when you're not at the footy?

I am genuinly surprised that people feel the need to catch up on the latest news in their friends' lives during a game of football that they are attending. By all means do it before the match or in the quarter breaks, but if play is going on shouldn't you be concentrating on the game???

If Phil was told to shut up at half time then that is unacceptable.

However SCG crowds have been the quietest I have experienced for about 10 years this season. Is this because of the style of play the Swans are throwing up or the fact that large sections of the crowd are too busy chattering amongst themselves to get involved in the game?? I wonder if our poor SCG form is due to the muted crowds?

Reading that Tigerland thread after the Richmond match showed how disappointing Melbourne people find the atmosphere in Sydney.

Sorry JF, I have no idea what this thread has to do with the discussion here. No-one seems to know what you are on about.

BTW Phil said he turned up late so was letting the guys know why he was late, I don't think that is unreasoable. Personally I would have told the guy to "Turn around and watch the game." Mind you he probably wouldn't get the irony of this.

Maybe this is the first time in 72 years that the crowd itself, like the players, are adjusting to a post-premiership environment.

I'm as loud as they come when I'm at the footy and would take exception to someone telling me to tone it down. But I don't begrudge anyone their right to talk about whatever pleases them on that given day. I bet you the six hard-earned hairs on my chest that there are plenty of dedicated, passionate supporters that are currently revelling in that fact that a second premiership this year is no longer the be-all end-all and they can take pleasure all aspects of going to a live sporting match. In short, there are likely plenty of people that are enjoying the game from a whole new perspective.

If some (and I bet you two future chest hairs it's only 'some') Melbourne people don't like it, tough luck. It's these differences that makes Sydney special, IMHO.

Also, don't forget the fact that if people have kids, the three hours they've squeezed is pretty damn precious and under the demands of parenthood they probably don't have the time to kick on at the pub post-game.

Richard Zachariah even write an article on how flaky Sydney fans are in comparison to Melbourne footy fans. In Melbourne EVERYONE is gloued to the action ALL THE TIME. In Sydney you get people only half watching the footy everywhere you look.JF

compared to Melbourne footy fans.It seems as some times some sydney supporters go off into there own little dream world with each other and not concentrating on the job at hand that being supportive and vocal IMHO PS:I know this is going to ruffle some feathers but is only an observation compared to melbourne supporters.its not intended to start the"I hate Melbourne/I hate Sydney"thing.

It's very unbloods-like to come on this forum and bag any swans supporter who does anything to anyone.

Keep it at the ground or you'll be dropped until your bloody form and fitness warrants you being selected.

This could be weeks and it won't matter to me whether you were asking your mates for a beer, talking about your manicure, calling McLaren a white maggot, stuffing your face with FKC, calling BALL or bagging Solomon because he's soft!

You may, however, discuss the hotness of ROK, the cheekiness of his cheeks or his hairdo as often or as loudly as you like.

So is this the new "code of conduct" that all people who dare to enter the SCG are to abide by, no talking unless its about the game you are attending - gaffer tap kiddies mouths so as not to annoy the "real supporter" incase they may ask for an icecream too loudy for the other spectator to cope with? heaven forbid if someones mobile phone rings -ooh thats bad!
general discussion allowed at quarter and half time breaks only.
Will there be a leadership group to administer this code?
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Go back and check their primary school report cards, they probably say:

"Richie Head is easily distracted by others" (at the footy).

I love the Swans, going to the football, but also to catch up with my mates. We're all now in our thirties, have families, wives etc and its a regular opportunity for us all to hang out with one another.

We complied with the request, but will surely be applying for a seat change next season.
It does depend on how long you were talking for.

I don't think it's a tough ask for you to concentrate on the game for a half hour at a time. I catch up with the goings on of the people around me before the game and at the breaks. The odd comment can't be complained about but it can get annoying if you go on and on about non footy matters. Believe it or not strangers around you don't give a rats about the goings on in your life.

Its similiar to being on a train when the person at the other end of the carriage is talking loudly on a mobile about their social life. An annoying practice.

This is a great topic. I`ve never really given it much thought. I`m a bit depressed that my fellow Swan supporters over East are rather quiet at the Home games. I can only comment on the games I`ve been to at Subi WA. When I`m sitting in the WC area they are full on ROAR or SILENT. Depends on the game. The Swans crew at Swans games GO OFF!! And that`s what I like to see and hear.

As far as telling someone to stop talking about non-footy stuff during a game? It`s never happened. Not that I`ve noticed. Because those @@@@ing Eagles keep winning and you can`t hear a @@@@ing thing over the @@@@ing noise.
