Facing The Cats

I haven't seen the St Kilda/Geelong game yet.

I have noticed the Saints performing average against stronger midfields the past few weeks, given this, how do you think we will fare against the Cats?

If we go hard ala yesterday, you would think we will overwhelm them?

Thoughts?

wasteful kicking cost Geelong ... they lost by 23 to the saints.

we play well = we beat geelong.

simple enough equation ... let's hope it goes well.

bring back davis for Geelong game ... he didn't play them earlier this year due to injury so it will still be a psychological advantage!

Cats wont like seeing ND especially in the last quarter.With Doyle and Jolly on song cant see the cats beating us,if Bazza could take more marks and we could kick straight we will smash the Cats

Useless midfield cost Geelong. I thought they got killed going through the middle.

Ricardi won't be there next week, after doing a hammy.

Geelong had more inside 50s through the first 3 quarters but really seemed to have no definite plan on how to deliver to their forwards. Plenty of turnovers as well through being too easy to read through the midfield. St Kilda weren't terribly good either, but did what they had to do.

Geelong could go either way:
- they could knuckle down and throw everything at this game for a shred of hope for the top 8
- they could turn it in for the season and we beat them by 10 goals

and being geelong its probably the latter

They'll love nothing than to wreck our top 4 chances as payback for the semi last year.

Doubt they can wreck it either way. Even if we lose to them we will probably finish top 4. So we have nothing to fear and everything to gain.

And as if he didn't have enough to deal with of late, the Geelong coach must now also attempt to plot a path to victory with the sizable frame of the red-hot Adam Goodes standing in his way.

"We've got three plans at the moment. I can't tell you about them, but we've got a few in line because he's right on top of his game. We saw him play last Saturday against Melbourne and he's in fantastic form," Thompson said.

"We put Cameron Ling on him the last couple of times and he did well in the final last year, but didn't do so well this year up in Sydney when Cameron was forced to play at full-back on him.

"He's such a flexible player, he can play anywhere and he's hard to match up on and whoever tries to pick him up he tries to expose their weaknesses, so a lot of thought has got to go into a lot of match-ups this week."

Now that the Cats cant make the finals, their one last motivation might be to beat the team that knocked them out of the finals last year.

I expect a hard tough finals-like encounter.

Could go either way.

Geelong are a very ordinary side, we are in good form & I believe we will beat the cats. It may be down at skilled but if memory serves me correctly didn't the hawks & richmond beat geelong at skilled preety well??

agree. i reckon goodesy will run riot against the catters. if we win this we're going well for a crack at another p'ship.
ps. that form at skilled stadium doesnt matter- the cats were good that year and we were average.

There is no way the Swans in their current mindset (i.e finals & 2005 premiership) will drop this game.
