I'm the same in my 38th year as a supporter.

I used to be the same. But now that we have won a premiership, if we dont win it this year I can cope

Same - just look at the ladder you'd hardly say any team was a standout and unbeatable - especially the swans who in the last 25 years have disappointed many times after getting into winning postions.

Still I'd rather go down fighting - its so much more satisfying than losing in a whimper

All of this stuff about 'Sydney are now a lock-in for 3rd' is malarkey. We're only percentage from being out of the top 4 entirely, and if Melbourne v Carlton and Dons v Woods don't prove anything about anyone being able to lose to anyone...

The good news is that, following a sensational run of opposition teams falling over, Sydney is now a much-improved chance of making the top 4 going 14:8 (provided always that we keep a better percentage than all comers). For that to occur, we need 2 of the following 3 things to happen:
              a) St Kilda losing one game, which if they knock off Freo is perhaps not as likely as it was a few weeks back, with the Dogs and Blions really starting to struggle
              b) Adelaide finding enough form to knock off Melbourne at home in R22 (presuming Melbourne get over the Roos and Cats in the next 2), and
              c) Freo losing one game (Saints at home, Weagles and Port at home). Just last week, I had them locked in to lose 3 on the trot and risk missing the finals. While I'd be shocked if they concluded their H&A on the back of 9 in a row, I'm being forced to reconsider everything I knew about them. What happened to the soft-as-butter up-and-down Freo that we all know and love?

Once you put (a) and (c) together, it's clear that the nightmare scenario this w/e is St Kilda and Freo having a draw! St Kilda and Freo draw: why does that result ring a bell?

Of course, the bad news is that if we lose to any of the teams we face in the next 3 weeks, we probably don't deserve to be in the top 4!

With the form we are in now I can't see us losing to geelong this weekend, yes it may be down at the cattery but if Hawthorn & Richmond can do it down there then so can we.

You can pencil in the wins against Brisbane & Carlton. 3rd spot is ours & a trip to subi is looking good.

There are many permutations, but to summarise...

If we win all 3 remaining games, we will be top 4 for sure, probably 3rd.

If we lose one game out of the remaining 3, we will most likely be top 4 still - by %, relying on a few other results to go as expected.

If we lose more than one game, we are likely to be 7th or 8th. = No home finals.

We showed them how to play by beating them in round 13. Nobody's beaten them since.

Ridiculous attitude. The same attitude the players had for the first half of the year.
Would you really cope if we made another grand final and lost?
I think the recent experience of Brisbane & Port shows you need to grasp your oppportunities when you get them and in 2006 we have an excellent chance of going back to back.

My thoughts exactly. Why are some people happy with just 1 premiership. We need to gain some respect and prove that the win in 2005 wasn't just a flash in a pan.

Totally Agree. We take all we can get no matter what. I don't care if we've won the last 5 premierships in a row i wouldn't stop there and would be mighty pissed off if we couldn't make it six.

Yes I would cope. There's always next year.

That doesn't mean I dont expect them to win it all again this year. Nor that I wouldn't be crushed on the day if we lost. But I'd still cope.

I'm with you, I think it has something to do with having your life in perspective.

Having said that, I'd also be very happy if we won 2 or 3 in a row.
