The upside of not being mexican is that the swannies fly under the radar.

The downside of flying under the radar is obtaining proper recognition for a job well done.

Whilst I realise that "personal achievement is not part of the swans ethos", credit should be due where credit has been earned.

As it is, I have to stay up till bloody midnight every Thursday to catch the AFL footy show ... it'd be a hundred times more worth it if they occassionally put a swannie on the panel. We ARE the premiers, after all.

      Sorry, I'm sidetracking.

On a slightly different tangent, you would think political organisations would be falling over themselves to get Goodes' services after his playing days are over.
We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty.

God love ya Elroy. Let's hope not.
I certainly don't want him corrupted and tainted by politics.

Its the first part of this longer one which goes on to talk abut Nick Davis.

Thanks Elroy. Very interesting article. Three years ago, when they did the peer assessment, I wouldn't have picked Adam for captain either. He's grown an awful lot since then, both on and off the field. As Willo said in the article ...

"If you did the peer assessment now I would think Adam and Barry would be up there near No. 1," Williams said.

"They were very good players before all this was done but I think they have taken their games to a new level because of the system that is in place." (Trevor Grant, Herald-Sun, 12/8/06)

I notice that on the swans website "Fans Choice Player of the Year", Goodsey is miles ahead of the competition.

                That's gotta count for something.

No one is going to come out and say that they think they'll win it.

Didn't Davo come out at the beginning of the year (or late last year) saying that he was shoe-in for the brownlow???

Tongue-in-cheek or not .... no wonder he got dropped.

Not sure How Adam is polling. He had a steady but unremarkable start to the year. One thing in Goodsey's favour is that I get the feeling we're going to have another low scoring victor for the Brownlow this year.

Judd was sensational early. But injury and then the form of his teammates probably made it tighter. Kerr will suck up a lot of votes over the last month but he was suspended so every vote will be wasted. Cousins will also hurt Judd. But if I remember he wasn't exactly amazing early in the year? Might be wrong on that.

Similarly West's chances will be hindered by the arrival of all those hard running midfielders over at the Dogs. And his role has mostly degenerated into low possession negating jobs for quite a while now.

Ricciouto's suspension means a few votes in Adel games mean little. And despite the focus on Goodwin in the press, i just get the feeling it was Burton and others (such as Tyson Edwards) that caught the eyes a bit. Goodwin is still a pretty good smokey from where I'm sitting, though.

Dare I say it another tie might be in the offing?

I'll take a tie. He could then be a dual-tied-brownlow medalist ... how many times has THAT happened???
